Other than Shop at Home, I believe this is a Toys r Us exclusive. I've got four so far for around $60 from using TRUTH and rewards coupons, but I'll definitely grab a few more next week if they survive until double VIP. This is another overlooked set IMO. The base is pretty cool, and the plane is unique. People love unique planes...

Tough to answer because the real answer is the dreaded "depends". I buy anything SW at 50% plus and almost anything non-Chima-non-bionicle at 65%+ off. Exclusives or sets I am targeting can be less of a discount, but there is almost always a way to get sets for a decent discount if you're patient and opportunistic. 

All that being said, I live in a nice location for WM finds...so that might give me a higher discount bar than average.

I was able too earlier this week and last week, with no problem.  

I believe you have to use red card & not gc.

My TRU didn't even put the signs out this week.

Were you around and in the game during the Pirates of the Caribbean run?  My understanding is that 4184 Black Pearl was everywhere (To include pallets of them at Sams or Costco).  I did not see that personally I just vaguely recall reading it here in the threads.  It was discounted down 30% and still not flying off of the shelves.  A few years later and many opinions have changed. 

Now I admit it might be a stretch of a comparison.  Deep Sea set compared to a Branded Pirates of the Caribbean set.  But if the aftermarket demand is there I see no reason why the unique deep sea sets won't perform admirably.

I won't suggest what to buy and what to shy away from because everyone has unique goals. 

 

Disclosure:  I own both Pirates of the Caribbean sets and Deep sea sets.

This set is really cool, I agree. I went to an offshore oil drilling museum last week and decided I need to buy many of there and use the parts for my own off shore oil well  

I got the sale price at the lego store plus my kids built the mini build rabbit and got some free Kai dragons

Ghostbusters firehouse was available briefly on toysrus.com this morning it quickly sold out.

It was available for over an hour.  I was slow getting my order in, since I was on a conference call, dealing with kids, and rounding up gift cards.

I did get an order delay email, so we'll see what happens.

Depends on the set.

Eg: 30% or more on Star Wars or other licensed themes is usually good

50% or more for city

95% off or more for Chima.

 

I still leave chima at those prices

Oh I have to disagree.  I load up on Chima at 95% off.  At a mere 90% discount, I leave it on the shelves, obviously, but at 95% I'll rent a U-Haul and clear out the store.  Once the price of oil recovers a bit, melt value alone justifies ABS plastic bits at 95% off MSRP...
