We're just back in 2012/2013, right?

Especially for those of use that picked them up at full price earlier in the year.  Talk about a kick in the nards!

@BrickLegacy - that's exactly what I was thinking when I posted my response.  Go Monster Squad!

no love for SW haha. I have one of each, got them deep discounted a while ago but with all these sets retiring at the same time, not sure which is best to pull the trigger... maybe DR Who or Ecto-1 but with the current state of the market hard to say.

Just for people that picked these up at retail.

Some of us remember the days of exclusives being on discount.

I fondly recall $119 FBs.

all 3 for the win.  dollar cost averaging down on the cusp of EOL.  it's the stuff of dreams.  our grandchildren will speak of this day.

Buyer network activated.  (No business account) In for 6-8 Mixers.

It definitely requires you to pick and choose your sets with great care.  I'm focusing down my purchases to a much smaller list of sets than I have in the past.

patiently waiting for 10247 Ferris Wheel to drop in price as well.

One thing to keep in mind about all of these discounts on exclusives is that we are now in an environment where there are a lot more people tuned in to the potential of these types of sets and they are likely to be hoarded to a much greater degree than any in the past.  Add in discounting on them and that is likely to accelerate.  Personally, I'm done with the large exclusives after watching the prices of many of my recent purchases languish below 2x RRP after EOL.

This is why I don't buy $100+ sets from LEGO Shop at Home.

Tumbler, Red 5, Tower of Orthanc are lowlights of the 2015 class...

MSRP 200$ for all of them.

Adding on top of them, the other two SC are also not working out very well.

Sea Cow and Sopwith Camel

With this trend, is there more money to be made in the cheaper Ideas sets retiring vs these UCS? ie... 4x DrWho/Ecto1 vs a SC right now for a 3 year hold lets say? This is getting frustrating I can't even have faith in a discounted "exclusive" UCS to perform well...

It is up to every person to choose their own path.  There are many ways to skin this cat.  Decide what you think it best and go with it.  No one on here has a crystal ball or roadmap to Lego profits in the future.  And only @exciter1 has a time machine and he's stingy with it.  Good luck!

EDIT:  Let's get back to the purpose of this thread and discuss other topics elsewhere.  I'm trying not to be the problem :)
