These prices this early in the “Holiday” shopping season tell me things are not well in the retail world.

I'm reading it as a capped limit on your screenshot.  But none of these offers ever seem to be 100% of what they appear to be.  I spread my purchases over multiple CB sources.

Same here, Honey rarely works for me, not sure if it's due to not activating it very often or what the trick is.  I've tried to stay away from Honey and BeFrugal.

CapOne shows 8% in their email notifications for "similar items".

If you have money, this is a great time to be a builder. If you have time (3+ years), and a good eye, you can pick some winners that won't be obliterated by remakes or usurped by the sheer speed Lego is putting out new stuff.

Bingo!  I often get criticize for preaching to people to ignore the retirement dates.  If you find a great deal the first 3 months of a set's life, buy it.  This often puts me at odds with those that say that you need to constantly turn over your stock.  To me, that's the same as saying "I can't afford to tie up my money for more than two years."  There are very few actual LEGO investors.  Most people that claim that they invest are really just speculators.
