I hate to dredge up a day old post regarding a dead deal, but a source at LEGO said this never came back in stock recently.  Did you actually successfully order it or did you just see it "in stock" and pass along the info here?  I called them to complain over this coming back in stock, because they had cancelled my order (of only one unit) from the original release day claiming they "oversold".  I told them I was pretty frustrated that they would cancel my order only to have more come back in stock early in the morning several weeks later.  I ended up getting transferred to a higher tier person who checked the online store history and saw zero units sold in the past few weeks (he only looked back that far).  I'm not saying you're lying, just wanted to hear about a successful purchase on 12/16, that way I know that LEGO is just saying whatever they want to appease the situation.  And therefore I wont trust their word anymore.  And I know this is the wrong thread, but I am quoting a post that was posted in this thread, so I had to.  Apologies. If you want to move any further discussion to Order Status, I will look for it.

FWIW I got a brickhound text alert that it was in stock at some ungodly hour of the morning. That's been pretty reliable for me. I wasn't awake, but I'm guessing it was actually in stock. Whether it was 2 returns or 20 units they found in the corner of the warehouse; and whether they were canceled soon after who knows. LEGO SAH isn't known for their reliability.

In my experience, they do a pretty good job publishing and enforcing their limits. Sometimes you can get a few orders placed quickly (I'm assuming before the others start processing) and you can get multiples. But, if you wait too long, they won't let you go through the checkout and tell you that you've reached the limit in previous orders and you need to remove those items from your cart before proceeding. At least, that's what happens to me.
