The Christmas in July Christmas Tree promo became a Mini Gingerbread House ...... I call it Bait and Switch (but still ordered ).

I can't remember if this has been mentioned but Disney.com has the Disney Castle for MSRP + free shipping.  They also have the the Boba Fett, Stormtrooper and TIE Fighter helmets in stock.  And since there are no Disney stores in Alabama, it is one of the few stores in which I don't have to pay Alabama's 10% tax.  Castle was $349 out the door!  That's a win for me.

England might be different than USA, but in the USA if you don't buy larger sets going EOL at RRP, you most likely will not have one.  Any set going EOL this year is going to be misleading.  Although the dates for it may say it has been around for 18 mo - 2 yrs, there is really 2-3 mo in the middle where no sets were being produced in Mexico.  And sets coming from Europe were very limited at best.  It is difficult to measure the full impact of decreased availability, especially for post-retirement value.

So if you can find it on sale, congrats.  In the USA, RRP will most likely be the best price on several larger sets this year.

just to clarify, i just said i'd buy diner at RRP a few days back, and got jumped all over for it, including an assy DM hence the small joke...i don't dig people out for how they make money, i don't pay there bills.

Ironically, I was involved in such a debate a few weeks back.  Generally speaking you never buy at RRP.  Of course, that isn't necessarily a true statement either as there are rare exceptions that never see wide-spread sales.  Where I live in NJ (USA) I rarely see sales... ever.  If I do find a set at 50% I'm almost compelled to buy it.  So far the only one I regretted buying was a single Angry Birds Castle.  It wasn't a horrible set, but was an unpopular movie.  The movie sets were so unpopular that LEGO didn't even produce sets for AB2 movie.

That dragon looks pretty sweet but I’ve seen some other mega sets in person and was not too impressed.  Do these game of throne ones hold up next to lego?  Looking at it for personal build

Also, lego US has a bunch of the bigger sets back online for pre order.  Still not in stock though and at RRP: haunted house, roller coaster, Taj Mahal, Death Star, diner, assembly square...

It's been an Amazon exclusive its entire life span.  LEGO store mgr told me it doesn't sell well.  Amazon has had several sales for it around $80.  That being said, LEGO @ home has been OOS for a little while now.

I ended up buying the transporter package. I already bought the transporter during their last sale for $130 with free shipping. This deal makes the corvette only $30 (RRP $50) and it gives my son an extra car to put on the transporter. Now I just have to unload the extra transporter for at least $141 ($130 plus tax). That shouldn't be a problem since it retails for $180. Thanks!
