Stranger things has not been a good seller for me. The set is cool, but maybe its a bit too niche? I'm not planning on buying anymore of it. I think the artificial covid scarcity has been a good barometer for what will do well after retirement. This set hasn't been good to me thus far.

hardly even moving over here and on back-order. a lot more i'd be buying for £180, ie treehouse or AS.

Oh sorry. yeah they have been going really quickly. I have been checking many times the past few days and they show up for a minute but by the time I get to check out it’s gone. Got lucky this morning. If you keep checking back hopefully you can get one too 😊

Also I’m not sure about resale value at all. This I just wanted for myself and had been waiting til my Birthday to justify it but by then of course covid happened and it was Sold out.

Christmas + Possible unexpected retirement + Not quick flipping + Really cool set

At least that is my thoughts...

I can see early retirement. Set is interesting but doesn’t really seem worth RRP. Appeal to die hard fans only.

While I do agree with your assessment and I don't think its investment potential is near as high as a modular or fairground set, it is one of those sets that pushes the boundaries of what is possible with LEGO.  From that stand point it is an oddity and dare I say has a certain cool factor.  And with all of Netflix's new subscribers and future potential Stranger Things seasons, it could take off.

I think if they retire it soon, it'll help long term. I certainly may need to eat my words at some point. It's obvious this thing doesn't have broad appeal like a saturn v though.

The more people don’t rate it , the better it will go.

I went right back to the page..saw it; clicked it; poof

Don't worry it's not retiring.  You'll have at least another year for it.

This is typically with my luck where they announce it will suddenly be retiring and oh yeah, the shed where they kept the last remaining ones burnt down last night.

Lego 70424 on for 59.99 at Target for local pickup

RRP 79.99

This is the Hidden Side Ghost Train Express

Lego 80103 Dragon Boat Race (retired set) on for 51.99 at iwoot

These are going for around 75.00 on ebay right now

If you add the Friends Amusement pier to it at 99.00 then you get free shipping with code "pier"

Anybody have a link or DPCI? Every hidden side set besides this one seems to show up when searching the Target site.

This didn't seem too far off.  I remember when LEGO Shop at Home would have an unannounced fire sale where the last of the remaining inventory suddenly showed up for sale at some steep discount that only a lucky few would discover before the set was gone forever.

SO you're telling me to resell my Hogwarts for $650 local sale to avoid later return?

gotcha
