I did not get this. Why the big non-license sets  require more resources?

The bigger the set, the more pieces that it needs, the harder it may be to fill the complete list.  We know LEGO makes individual pieces in batches (not per set); a unique piece batch may be held off until the more common ones get made.

Also the bigger the set the smaller the target buyer size.

These two factors based on supply chain and down economy suggests that the big sets are more attractive for LEGO to retire early...and the ones that have no licensing constraints even more so.

Just my thoughts based on my limited understanding. I have no insider info.

Not bots - I've gotten in on many of these closeout deals from Macy's. Their website acts up a lot when limited quantity are left. Once they sell out, they stay there for abit.

This particular set was in/out of closeout for a long period end of 2019. When it comes back in stock, it's literally quantity of 1-3.

I managed to go all the way to payment with 2 in my cart before it conked out just 15 mins ago. I do think there were some available. Too bad I had to check out as guest and enter all my info - that probably killed my chance of grabbing these.

I tried paypal checkout with one and it still didn’t work, so...

I don't think they were available - if they were, they were either late last night or very early AM.. I tried ordering them over 2 hours ago with many other Macy's orders I placed (thank you Samsung Pay). They didn't go through then.

TIE Fighter Helmet back in stock... definitely the most valuable of the 3, can't keep it in stock! Going for $90-120 on ebay.

In for max of 3.....prices are falling but with LEGO's supply disruption I think the quick flip window on this will be a bit longer than usual.

I've never had good luck with Target shipping me good condition LEGO boxes. They usually use WAY too big of a box and the interior padding gets popped or isn't even there... lending to some pretty nice creases and defects that I'm sure weren't there when they were put in the shipping box.

So I bought 6; (3) orders of qty 1 and (1) order of qty 3. Using this as a test to see which ones arrive in nicer condition. I'll probably end up returning one or more based on box condition or lack of sales. EDIT: Thanks for calling me out guys, better steer to the side of honesty and just hold on to them if sales aren't quick.

Been piling up the 75258 pods as I missed out on the other 20th anniversary sets, as well as a handful of the HP Beaux Carriage sets from that Walmart GC deal a few pages back. The boxes from the store pickup were shipped from the dist. center and have been in perfect condition!

Just so you know, returning unsold items to the store you bought them from is frowned upon on here as unethical.

Don’t think your allowed to do this see ethics thread.

It is a Target exclusive so should be a slam dunk (Completionists) on Amazon (still no listing yet that I see) and eBay Global Shipping. In for 3 orders of 3 thanks OP, Oh that’s you ;)

Wait, thought you could only buy 3? Or just 3 per order?

Returning damaged goods from improper packing is not. Seems nowadays proper packing is not a priority. Not just for LEgo, but food items, health and beauty (I’ve had mouthwash and salsa containers arrive in leaky containers not protected just stuffed in an oversized box with other items.

Returning items you bought for resale, Then not selling the said items for your profit you desire, would be frowned upon.

You are right, returning damaged goods is fine. That is why I only mentioned returning unsold items.

Noted, thanks for the succinct call outs my friends. Truly I mean this, thank you. I don't have a history of it (I live far from stores so returning is a hassle), but now that you all have me thinking about it it does seem questionable. I will certainly take your reminders to heart and not return things just because I couldn't get a good flip. Besides... majority of the time if you sit on it long enough it garners enough value anyways. :)

I will, however, hold Target and other companies accountable to delivering a quality product especially when it comes to the 16/18+ LEGO market, where box condition and collectible valuable is influenced by such.
