The last patch is going for $10 max on Ebay — many auctions for less.  How do you figure $15-20?  The Drag Racer is trending higher.  I think it helps when these promos come in boxes.

It's opposite here.

Promos are OK. Not amazing by any means. Realistically: 8-10 for the Drag Racer, 15-20 for the patch & scrap the bag. Minus eBay & PP fees they are 20€-25€. Only interesting for exlusives.

Triple promo February 7th-9th. No bag, but we get the 30411 Flower set which is better IMHO.

  • January 24 – February 9: LEGO Hidden Side Drag Racer (40408) with purchases of $45 or more, while supplies last.
  • February 1-9: VIPs receive Free Space Patch for purchasing the LEGO Ideas International Space Station (21321), while supplies last.
  • February 7-14: Free LEGO Friends Chocolate Box and Flower (30411) with purchases of $35 or more, while supplies last.

scrap the bag

Agreed.  The bag is simply promotional/marketing materials.  It's like a baseball game I went to last year... the kids get to spin this wheel, it starts going clickity-clackity and you it's stops on a prize segment.  Congratulations, you when a bag, or pen, or pencil, or cup with your logo of your local bank, grocery store, cable company, electric company, etc. printed on the side.  Sure, it functions as a bag, but it's next-to-free marketing to give away these bags so people walk around and advertise the new TV show...

hmmmm, I think SAH ran out of Drag Racers.  It's still advertised on the site but it doesn't show up in my cart anymore.

LEGO Creator Mighty Dinosaurs 31058   What do you guys think of this set?  Number one seller on Amazon.  I buy these types of sets when on clearance, but are they something to hoard otherwise?

I sold 36 this past Christmas AMZ FBA in lower rank alternate category, basically where Amazon is not selling. Sold them between $20 and $23 a piece. My average buy-in price was $10.48 including taxes. Made $132 in profit after fees and FBA shipping. Bottom line not great at all and only viable during Christmas. Probably a better money market once retired. It has been 3 years and counting.

Hmm, the Amazon ranking just got me curious.  I've been doing this a long time but never took these rankings into consideration and wondering if I should put some value into them. Do you guys put a lot of value into them?

Meaning, do you wind up investing into sets that you normally would not because of Amazon's rankings?

Rankings are certainly a great way to gauge demand for a set, particularly the smaller ones with less AFOL/VP office focus.  The only problem is LEGO has started paying more attention to these as well....

Not a huge deal but on LEGO Shop at Home 40198 Lego Ludo Game has been 30% off periodically ($39.99 marked down to $27.99) and is that price right now.  It comes with 16 minifigures, which on its own ends up being $1.75 a figure (in addition to all the other pieces in the set).  Add on an extra $7.01 to get free shipping and the free valentines flower and chocolate box GWP.  Got my daughter the 853780 Friends Rings for $7.99 to close the gap.

Hmm, its the number that was on the scan tag. Online doesn't pull anything but they had them in the Valentines/seasonal rotating section. 30411 doesn't pull anything either. I should have scanned on the app, but maybe because it's seasonal they wont show up? Strange.

Disappointing to see them out there.  Oh well, I'll just wait to see what the March calendar holds.

To be fair, Target was actually placing these out in Seasonal long before the Feb calendar leaked. Seems more like it was planned to be Target's seasonal, then lego decided to make it the promo gift as well... All in all, it feels like a lack of creativity for Valentines day. They know they had to put out SOMETHING, but then got lazy and covered all needs with the same lame poly.

We'll see how they handle Easter haha (next time Target seasonal and Lego store promo will collide)
