Things have definitely changed in brick and mortar stores since the late 90s.  I remember picking up (for example) all the original Harry Potter and Star Wars sets, circa 1999-2008, including UCS, for 75 percent off at Walmart and Target, right off the shelves. Meaning they would sit there for weeks through the 30-50% off cycles and reach 75%.  Nowadays things start disappearing at 30% off.  Which is why I mainly turned to online shopping, where these deeply discounted deals still happen.  Saves on gas too.

Same here, many things marked 30% fly off the shelves, Rarely do they make it to 50%. Only time I benefit is finding unmarked sets that are on clearance using an online tracker (which is and can be inconsistent about stock levels).

Went to a Kmart that's closing...toys all 30% off: still relatively full toy aisles except for one with ZERO stock on the shelf...yup it was the LEGO aisle...apparently 30% off is enough for some to arm swipe an entire aisle

Curious.  Anyone ever hear of the Ban Hammer from Lego being lifted?  Or, over time could you just order online again?

yep correct because nobody buying to resell i mean almost- Bezos amazon's  still in a garage, ebay just started and no FB and youtube, i started in 2009 and it was hard - smartphones just released and that's was the beginning....30 years that's a lot cmon ( from late 90s that be 60s i can see ). i see big diff from 2010. some sets in target sits for weeks with 75% off. now you can check inventory from your cell, today much easier and i love it. you need to be smart and quick and up to date. thats a game. compete and win that's a point today. easy 10 years ago boring

yes myself ban lifted after 5 years this november i think cause website reset only, who knows

The issue is that you're limited on growing/scaling if you're only buying at 60% off. I mean, there's only so much inventory that you can get from your local WM when they go on clearance. And that's not counting what others are buying from those stores before you get there.
I've been lucky enough to have a few very big buys at 60-75% off, but it's not as if they're just out there waiting to be bought.

You’re limited in scaling if you’re gated, which many of us are so it becomes harder for us to buy sets even at the 50% off mark because they rarely fetch Amazon prices on the other marketplaces. I rarely buy for less than 70% and know my route of 6-8 Walmarts that all markdown around the same time, so it’s possible to snag a few hundred sets in my rural hell hole of America.

Interesting. Maybe time to risk using the old account again. If it doesn’t work, I could always move again!

I used my old account, was like what the heck, and had no issue.. so I guess the ban was lifted.

but then I have to worry about the gift set condition thanks to lego's plain shipping box, all those bad memories came back all the sudden....

I did and it’s worked, in October...b4 I tried in 2017.

Thanks to bricklondons info, im back from the dead! A lot of the brave souls who were banned in years past can now revive on lego.com. The hoard is back in full stength! Ironically i was banned at target recently though so a little give and take. And thankfully walmart and amazon has clearly defined limits now.

10% off Target GiftCards only on Sunday Dec 8th

$300 max per household

See page 5 of the weekly add linked below

https://weeklyad.target.com/promotions?code=Target-20191201&page=R&clkid=62d2fddbN037641e67abaef9e762985d6&lnm=360518&afid=Slickdeals_LLC&ref=tgt_adv_xasd0002

This is a big deal in that the last few times stores literally went out of stock on the plastic cards (be sure to get the designs you want days before the sale and activate later).

For folks w/ Redcard experience, if we use our Redcard, I'm thinking we don't get the additional 5%. right?  Also tracking wise the $300 cap would be a hard cap.
