I've been a brickpicker since 2014 and do not remember this many online 50% off or more deals.

Overproduction, and too many sets, catches up at the end. Aftermarket prices have suffered as well because of this... but if you buy at the right prices, your ROI shouldn't suffer much. Across the board my ROI has been pretty flat, but I'm not buying until 60% off or higher on most things.

The issue is that you're limited on growing/scaling if you're only buying at 60% off. I mean, there's only so much inventory that you can get from your local WM when they go on clearance. And that's not counting what others are buying from those stores before you get there.

I've been lucky enough to have a few very big buys at 60-75% off, but it's not as if they're just out there waiting to be bought.

Things have definitely changed in brick and mortar stores since the late 90s.  I remember picking up (for example) all the original Harry Potter and Star Wars sets, circa 1999-2008, including UCS, for 75 percent off at Walmart and Target, right off the shelves. Meaning they would sit there for weeks through the 30-50% off cycles and reach 75%.  Nowadays things start disappearing at 30% off.  Which is why I mainly turned to online shopping, where these deeply discounted deals still happen.  Saves on gas too.
