There is some tricky business to it .... I tried to have it apply to an "add on item" purchase which didn't stick (chatted with CS and they told me it is 1 promo per cart, that's why). It does work on the add-on item if you order another item that is not subject to promo with it. Also, when adding on the item to a cart with the promo already activated (i.e. 2 sets with BOGO40%), the promo value becomes LESS than when you just order 2 the same items. Cue the Math Meme.

It worked just fine when I ordered four to six identical-priced items in the same order. Math checked out.

Math is working fine for me. What's everyone going for? Im thinking Trains, Dragons and Ferries.

Also try to buy sets (for investment) that are unlikely to be remade in the near future.  There is always a cargo train and passenger train, for example.  Ditto for police and fire stations.

I also find that when considering larger purchases, advice from a trusted local psychic can be well worthwhile.  Not one of those 900 number hotlines though.  They're all fakes.

Ok I add Car and Caravan x2 (60117), plus 4x4 Off Roader x2 (60115) to a cart. I should see $10.07 as the promo ($12.39+$12.79)*40%, but I only see $9.91. If I only add 60117 x2, I see $5.12 as the promo (which is 40% of $12.79). Not much of a difference, but a difference.

Interesting.  In any case though, personally I always order just 2 in a shipment to maximize my $1 slow shipping credit over multiple orders.  Though it would have been nice to get in some of these small add on only items (with discount) into an order.

I actually wonder if the amazon sale was either a screw up (posted early, or suppose to be limited to 1 per account), or a bf test run.  It makes no sense to run a hidden sale that is not advertised, and only shows up when you go to checkout.  

combined with the target 20% screw up (assumed since they fixed many of the prices rather quickly, but too late for them not to be picked up by amazon and walmart...), these may be the best deals of the year on many of these sets. and I suspect we have automated systems to thank for much of it.  either way it will make for a very interesting holiday season...

I'm of the opinion that we're all going to be massively disappointed with the BF offerings, based on what I have seen posted in ads so far. The two brick boxes (WM and TRU) being the only possible exceptions (and GS's Green Arrow for a few of us).

Not that it matters now but the BOGO 40% promo only stacked on the cheapest qualifying order. So if it pops up again you want to do separate orders each time otherwise you will not get the max discount for all of the other items in the order. At least that is the way it worked for us each and every time. 

We were not going to buy much Lego for the rest of the year but here were some good deals to be had. I refuse to give any business to Walmart but happy to do business with Amazon. Not going to get rich but the hourly rate for those 50% off sets was way better than running around stores trying to find clearance.

BF may suck but TLG oveproduced and had such bad sales in 2016 there will be plenty of opportunity for 50% in the USA.
