So I'd still like to know why Lego are almost immediately going to 30% off. (i know WH is a 2010 set), but the Capital bldg & Buckingham Palace have already been discounted close to 30% off.

I haven't seen LEGO do this. I have seen retailers (Amazon, WM, Target) do this. I doubt that LEGO is giving them rebates for those discounts, but perhaps someone with more insights can provide a clue as to how those discounts work.

The elimination of the "no exclusive discounts policy" this year will give retailers much more flexibility with pricing LEGO.  Expect a wild ride this holiday season.
