Luckily for me, I'm kind of an idiot.  I bought a whack of these in the past and knew I hadn't used them all up.  Figured I had close to $75 left spread across a couple.  Started going through them and am pretty close to $400 left.  Kind of like finding a $20 bill in your winter coat from last year when you get it out in the fall.

When you buy 1 at $40, it comes loaded with $50.  So you can spend up to $200 to get $250 in gift card credit.

That's a built-in 20% off.  Since every $50 GC is 20% off when you buy it.

When you go into TRU, they don't know how much you spent on the GC.  They only know how much you have as a balance.

You could use these today with the SAVEMORE code.  If you were to buy the Spider-Man Bridge set, which is $100, you'd get the 20% off (so it's now $80), and then use two of these GCs which have a "built-in" 20% off.

Make sense?

Pretty unusual, but actually the 2nd time this Summer.

Glad the site finally came back up, I had $225 that I had not transfered yet and was unable to access. Picked up 5 on this sale, so up to $475. I also have like $56 in rewards. Tempting to pickup another batch, but I'm probably comfortable with $500 since they have really limited the coupons to one time use- it seems like I just shop at TRU once a month.

Yes you can . I would highly recommend using them for instore purchases only though. Many online retailers use them as a prime example when blocking accounts due to stolen CC/ giftcard fraud .
