Not riding you out of town, just saying that it's worth grabbing regardless of any plan.  Its a tough deal to pass up on for a set like that (whether you like the set or not).

I still think the Walmart deal was great.  I would be all about the prime one if I didn't already get one from walmart and was a prime member.

We all have our learning curves. I once questioned whether it was a good idea to buy HH when they had that Wal-Mart gift card deal 2.5 years ago or so. Making mistakes is a good but painful way to learn.

I don't disagree with you.  i bought one at walmart the other day, but i'm not buying anymore of these.  This could be just a small clearance blip, where walmart and amazon want to clean out their warehouse, and then lego will carry it for 2 more years.  At that point, would you want many of these big boxes sitting in a portion of your house taking up that amount of space?  Nah not really.  I honestly see this one stalling out around 260 at EOL, and staying there for some time.

I think the point is that that is the case for any large UCS set, but at this price it should be easy to unload at cost if you did need to make space.  It does seem rare that they are discounted this low, so if someone isn't biting at this price for UCS, then it seems like why would you take the risk with any large set at less discount.

 

Also, for people without amazon visa, discover is 5% back on amazon.com and some people may still have double cash back promotion for their first year.

Well common sense shows that if one of the largest retailers in the world can't sell out at 37% off a SW collectors set how in the world are all these people planning to sell these at $300+ after retirement at 2-10 sets deep per person.  I bought one today and already built one/love the set, but there seems to be enough inventory in the investors hands after walmart and today to keep the pressure on prices low for a LONG time.  I hope I'm wrong.  

Also, you missed the point.  $130 is not the issue it's the desire to be profitable that is.

I didn't think the entire world was a prime member. That and the limit of 1 probably has a lot to do with this not selling out as quickly.

As a counterpoint, this one is a one per account, prime account holders only sale.  Not exactly an all you can eat buffet to the general populace.  The Walmart deal did not last that long in the grand scheme.  Time will tell of course.  I am ready open them up and build MOC if this turns into a Lego Pirate Chess type permanent discount.

Already got 2 of the Tie Fighters (hopefully in  LEGO shipping box) from the Walmart deal. Was about to pull the trigger on another on Amazon, when up popped a Sandcrawler for $220 after the 15% discount on AWD. I opted for this instead, since I don't have one yet. What's strange is that it says backordered, in stock on July20th!!??!  There's still more available on AWD for anyone else interested.
