76052 - Batman Classic TV Series - Batcave

Brickpicker News Article and Discussion

Maybe I missed it but I didn't see a thread on this.  What's everyone's thoughts on this set?

Looks like an sesame play set and love the 60s theme but not sure I would have room for it.

Lego stores description

"It’s back to the Batcave with this special set featuring iconic elements as seen in the classic 1960s Batman™ TV show. Answer emergency calls on the Batphone in Bruce Wayne’s private study. Then press the button under the bust of Shakespeare and open a sliding false bookcase to reveal the secret entrance to the Batcave. Change Bruce Wayne™ and **** Grayson™ into Batman™ and Robin™ and slide down the Batpoles. Protect the Bat Lab’s Batcomputer from The Joker’s TNT attacks and test Catwoman™ with the lie detector machine. Fly the Batcopter with Robin and fire the flick missiles. Then drive the Batmobile or Batcycle and stop those villains escaping with the Batcave’s secrets!

  • Includes 9 minifigures: Batman™, Robin™, Bruce Wayne™, **** Grayson™, Alfred Pennyworth™, The Joker™, Catwoman™, The Riddler™ and The Penguin™.
  • This LEGO® model of the Batcave as seen in the classic 1960s TV series features 2 Batpoles for Batman™ and Robin™ to slide down, a selection of Bat-gadgets, helipad, plus a Batmobile and Batcopter.
  • The Wayne Manor section of the model features Bruce Wayne’s study with the iconic Batphone, a hinged Shakespeare bust with secret button underneath, sliding false bookcase to access the Batpoles, and assorted elements including decorated wallpaper bricks, wall lamps, framed portraits, a framed fish and trophies. It also includes an exterior wall for climbing, with an opening roof for easy access to the Batpoles and an aerial element.
  • The Batcave incorporates a hi-tech, 2-floor Bat Lab with Batcomputer element and a variety of detachable accessory elements, including a lie detector machine, table, chest of drawers, Bat-gadgets and test tubes with translucent elements. Also includes the iconic Batcave entrance for the Batmobile and a helipad for the Batcopter.
  • The Batmobile features a dual cockpit with iconic Batphone, 2 stud shooters, an opening trunk, dual exhaust and sign stickers.
  • The Batcopter has an opening cockpit for a minifigure, bat-inspired wings with 2 flick missiles, spinning rotors and a spinning propeller. A villain minifigure can grab onto the back of the Batcopter for more aerial battle action.
  • The Batcycle features a driver’s seat for Batman™, translucent headlight element and a sidecar for Robin™.
  • Also includes a cat.
  • Weapons include The Joker’s TNT, Catwoman’s whip, The Riddler’s TNT and The Penguin’s umbrella.
  • Accessory elements include Batman’s 3 Batarangs, rope, grappling hook and handcuffs.
  • Includes separate minifigures for Batman™ and Robin’s alter-egos, so enter the secret doorway as Bruce and ****, and slide down the Batpoles as LEGO® DC Super Heroes!"

  • As a fan I love this set.  The vehicles, minifigures, and Batcave section are the highlights for sure.  Wayne Manor leaves something to be desired, but the study with the secret entrance was such a fo

I think this might be a winner because it is an unique version, but hard to estimate.

I've said it before and I'll set it again. I don't see the market for a large play set based on a 60's TV show that doesn't work as a display piece.

It's the only set I've bought for personal build and decided to get rid of within days of finishing. I kept the Batmobile and got rid of the rest.

I can see this sat in Smyth's Toys in UK well into the middle of next year.

Me neither. It´s probably quite good to part out as there will be folk that just want each mini build or the minifigs.

It is an okay set. Not up to the D2C standards, but not bad per se like AoH is. I bought it for personal collection because I like niche stuff like this one. However it will not do well because people have so much choice that it sits at the bottom of the list.

I've seen these in Smyths and JL at a good discount and they're just not shifting. If only the Batmobile was available on it's own without the other lacklustre components. Don't go silly on these.

40% off at TRU yet?

Better not be. Although I suppose a good PM with some rewards would be nice.

They'll mark it 40% off when they raise it.

I have my fill until that happens.

I have found it on 'Carousell' in Singapore for SGD $180 ( USD $130). This is a private sale, BNIB.

Im still on the sidelines whether I should buy or not? Any advice please?

That's more than 50% off US retail price. I'd buy it.

Just bit the bullet and purchased in at SGD $180 ($130 USD). No buyer remorse...yet. If this indeed turns out to be a stinker then unlucky. 60% off a big set like this, no brainer. GLTA

I'm not gonna lie, picked up this set dirt cheap. The box looks so good that I have become emotionally tied to it, heard its a great build too. Hmmm what to do. Hang onto it for another 6 months and sell once retired or flick off now for a $60 profit after fees?

Build it, keep Batmobile part out the rest.

Man!  That's tempting...I may have to pull the trigger now.  Thanks for the heads up...

The AFOL in me loves this set.

The investor in me knows the chance of a batcave appreciating nicely  is small since one is released every 2-3 years with very little duration in- between the old being totally sold-out at retail and the new one arriving

If any batcave should appreciate, it's this one.  However, I view buying this for investing as high risk / low reward.  I'm forcing myself to pass even at $200 each.   The buy-in would need to be $125-$150 for me to buy 2+.
