76052 - Batman Classic TV Series - Batcave

Brickpicker News Article and Discussion

Maybe I missed it but I didn't see a thread on this.  What's everyone's thoughts on this set?

Looks like an sesame play set and love the 60s theme but not sure I would have room for it.

Lego stores description

"It’s back to the Batcave with this special set featuring iconic elements as seen in the classic 1960s Batman™ TV show. Answer emergency calls on the Batphone in Bruce Wayne’s private study. Then press the button under the bust of Shakespeare and open a sliding false bookcase to reveal the secret entrance to the Batcave. Change Bruce Wayne™ and **** Grayson™ into Batman™ and Robin™ and slide down the Batpoles. Protect the Bat Lab’s Batcomputer from The Joker’s TNT attacks and test Catwoman™ with the lie detector machine. Fly the Batcopter with Robin and fire the flick missiles. Then drive the Batmobile or Batcycle and stop those villains escaping with the Batcave’s secrets!

  • Includes 9 minifigures: Batman™, Robin™, Bruce Wayne™, **** Grayson™, Alfred Pennyworth™, The Joker™, Catwoman™, The Riddler™ and The Penguin™.
  • This LEGO® model of the Batcave as seen in the classic 1960s TV series features 2 Batpoles for Batman™ and Robin™ to slide down, a selection of Bat-gadgets, helipad, plus a Batmobile and Batcopter.
  • The Wayne Manor section of the model features Bruce Wayne’s study with the iconic Batphone, a hinged Shakespeare bust with secret button underneath, sliding false bookcase to access the Batpoles, and assorted elements including decorated wallpaper bricks, wall lamps, framed portraits, a framed fish and trophies. It also includes an exterior wall for climbing, with an opening roof for easy access to the Batpoles and an aerial element.
  • The Batcave incorporates a hi-tech, 2-floor Bat Lab with Batcomputer element and a variety of detachable accessory elements, including a lie detector machine, table, chest of drawers, Bat-gadgets and test tubes with translucent elements. Also includes the iconic Batcave entrance for the Batmobile and a helipad for the Batcopter.
  • The Batmobile features a dual cockpit with iconic Batphone, 2 stud shooters, an opening trunk, dual exhaust and sign stickers.
  • The Batcopter has an opening cockpit for a minifigure, bat-inspired wings with 2 flick missiles, spinning rotors and a spinning propeller. A villain minifigure can grab onto the back of the Batcopter for more aerial battle action.
  • The Batcycle features a driver’s seat for Batman™, translucent headlight element and a sidecar for Robin™.
  • Also includes a cat.
  • Weapons include The Joker’s TNT, Catwoman’s whip, The Riddler’s TNT and The Penguin’s umbrella.
  • Accessory elements include Batman’s 3 Batarangs, rope, grappling hook and handcuffs.
  • Includes separate minifigures for Batman™ and Robin’s alter-egos, so enter the secret doorway as Bruce and ****, and slide down the Batpoles as LEGO® DC Super Heroes!"

See ToA. I expect some type of doorbuster offer after the summer. in Europe, it´s not marked yet so I guess it will stay around till 3rd or 4th quarter.

Batcave marked as retiring soon in UK.  So should see 10% off soon and ultimately 30% off.

"Exclusives" were not put on sale last time around, even when they came back into stock.

True, but can't see this shifting without any incentives, even with impending retirement.  Only thing that it has going for it is the minifigures and the retro batmobile.  Rest is a complete monstrosity.  Smyths had it below £150 last year and there were not many takers.  So unless there been very conservative with their production runs, then this will hang around like a bad smell taking up lots of valuable shelf real estate that is desperately needed for imminent releases.  Space is such a premium in the stores local to me, that they're having to put sets in the middle of the floor where they get kicked about by the kids.  Wouldn't surprise me to see them go straight to 30% off, in order to put this set out of it's misery.

Maybe that´s why they tagged it out of season.

In any case, it´s been out barely a year so the misery is nothing compared to Simpsons.

This set has actually done well parted out........ Figures, batmobile, batcycle, batcopter and the batcave. Have parted out quite a few of them and made a nice return. Especially on a set thats still widely available.

What is the consensus about whether or not the US will see this set lower than $270? I love this set and plan on getting it soon

Finally a realistic msrp has shown up.

When you part it out do you apply the stickers to the bricks, or cut them out of their sheet to include with each relavant build, or keep the whole sheet intact and sell that separately?

Cut the sticker sheet. X-acto knife is your best friend. Using a NEW blade for a box cutter will work too.

Well, that ruined the forthcoming Mythbusters episode about no discounts on exclusives.

Well, I think double VIP is better than the tote bag.

Looks like we are getting both!

Not able to get the tote bag to add to cart with promo code while signed into account. Am I doing something wrong?

yea same just giving me x2 vip pts, might be out of the tote bag? might have to go to Lego store tomorrow if this is the case

I just tried to add the tote bag with promo code "JUIN" (for Canada) and it works.

Are these tote bags worth selling? I see them going for about $30USD on eBay.

Edited by eliminator

You can sell just about anything on Ebay. Just typed McDonald's Happy Meal Toys the other day....

Just put in an order at the US LEGO Shop at Home with both the tote bag and double VIP.

After entering the promo code, I had to leave the checkout process (continue shopping) and then go back to the shopping cart for the tote bag to show up as a separate free item.

Blah, they got me.  In for 1 + Tote.

I just cut the stickers with scissors and include the appropriate ones with each lot. Seems to have worked out well so far............

Out to 30 days at US SAH. Discount + retiring soon tag seems to have done the job.

By "done the job" you mean another production run due to false demand or perhaps shipping some more over to the USA from the EU were they are smart enough not to buy this turd of a set.  I wanted to pull the trigger on one for my personal collection but after rewatching this review couldn't do it even with 20% off and 2X VIP and promo.  This will be an interesting set to watch EOL not sure which will do better it or my Mega Blocks Enterprise.

Honestly, the Batmobile alone will make more money than the Megabloks Enterprise.

Remember that 30 day backorder is just one step off SOLD OUT status. I guess this one is done by  September.

This batcave is cool and should be a blast to build.

I just don't have high hopes for this set because the batcave is now refreshed every 2-3 years now.  While the classic batcave (and Batmobile, Batcycle and Batcopter) is unique, it's still another batcave at the end of the day.
