In Ep 8 news today (and as rumored), the release date has been delayed from May 2017 to Dec  2017.  We know Ep 7 was delayed due to a major script rewrites. I believe it's for a similar reason.

Star Wars: Episode VIII to Open December 15, 2017

The release date for the next film in the saga is confirmed.

Today, Disney and Lucasfilm announced that Star Wars: Episode VIII, originally scheduled for release in summer 2017, will now debut on December 15, 2017.

Written and directed by Rian Johnson, Star Wars: Episode VIII is currently in preproduction and will begin principal photography in London next month. Kathleen Kennedy and Ram Bergman will produce and J.J. Abrams, Jason McGatlin, and Tom Karnowski will executive produce.

It is all about the selling toys to kids (young and old), at least since RotJ. 

I liked it.  Overall, it looks pretty intense and like it will be a roller coaster ride that in the end will break apart and leaving you hanging for a year and a half to debate what's next.  

As for the porgs, the marketing gimmick obviously works, because my little boy only wants lego sets with porgs.  And I can relate because it's like when I was a kid and was sad when that little ewok took a laser to the back from the AT-ST and laid there lifeless and I felt like we just lost our pet dog...

Trailer was friggin awesome. Tickets fandango'd for opening night. Apparently I'm more of a fanboy than I realized.

I am still trying to figure out what the hell is up with this scar?

 

Also, are they really foreshadowing Leia's death scene or is that just a "lets mess with your mind editing jedi mind trick"?

I guess he must have the same hairdresser as Trump.

The trailer pretty much confirms everything people had predicted about the movie regarding the fates of Leia and Rey, saving 2h47 minutes.

Yeah, that scar thing intrigued me as well. We'll have to wait for the movie to see which comes chronologically before the other.

And regarding Kylo apparently hesitating in the trailer, before shooting the ship carrying his mother Leia ... I believe it's the trailer trying to deliberately put us on the wrong footing. Maybe he does shoot the ship, destroying it and killing his mother, and that event actually causes an emotional backlash with regret and remorse. It might actually trigger his redemption...

Who knows ... in Episode IX we might see a redeemed Light-side Kylo opposing a Rey-turned-Dark !

These don't look like Gorilla Walkers in this "hanger" shot.

There's also a Chicken walker in the left most circle.  Can't tell if it's looks more like the older model or new one  

 

And Kylo Ren's Command Shuttle makes another appearance. Let's hope this will justify a better LEGO version than the rather mediocre 75104.
