Reason why LEGO Shop at Home US is so slow to retire sets?

Hi everyone, I just wanted to see if any more experienced members have any ideas as to why US LEGO Shop at Home is so much slower to put the "retired" tag on its products compared to other countries LEGO Shop at Home.

    Something related to returns policy, maybe?

    We have seen that it tends to happen more with end of year retirements - summer ones in the US appear to be less tardy, or am I imagining it?

    Inventory still in stores???  Brick and mortar Lego or other stores that they don't want to flip to retired til it clears.
