=======================

Earlier today, a Greek Facebook user posted two pictures of set 76052, "Batman Classic TV Series - Batcave".

Before quickly reviewing this set's highlights, I will "POW" my way to this blog's conclusion.  If these pictures are fact, I'm officially   declaring that set 76052 will be a winner for AFOLs, KFOLs and investors.

While consider campy by today's entertainment standards, Adam West's Batman is still very popular despite debuting on the ABC Network 50 years ago (aired January 12, 1966 to March 14, 1968).  Yes folks, this year marks the 50th anniversary of the Batman TV series.

Despite this set being Lego's 3rd Batcave since 2006 (excluding Juniors & Duplo) and won't be the last, it most likely will never be refreshed or redone.  We have an iconic part of pop culture history in Lego form that will probably be available at retail for only 2-3 years.

Highlights

  • Includes 9 minifigures : Batman, Bruce Wayne, Robin, Dick Grayson, Alfred Pennyworth, Catwoman, The Joker, The Penguin and The Riddler  Sorry Bat fanatics but Aunt Harriet Cooper, Commissioner Gordon and Barbara Gordon / Batgirl are not included.  The rumored Mr. Freeze minifigure might be a polybag promotion.
  • Vehicles included are The Batmobile, Bat-copter and Bat-cycle.
  • Portions of Wayne Manor are included included the famous red Batphone and statue head that doubles as the secret entrance to the cave.  A side wall is also included for Batman and Robin to climb.

  • Portions of Wayne Manor are included included the well-known red Batphone and Shakespeare bust that doubles as the secret entrance into the cave.  An outside wall looks to be also included for Batman and Robin to climb and dual sliding poles
  • I expect MSRP to be around $199.99 considering the amount of minifigures and types of elements used.  Update : a Mod at Eurobricks thinks retail price will be $270 with a 2,526 piece count.
  • Retail availability  looks to be next month.

  • Why does each set have to be an investment? Why can't some sets just be enjoyed and displayed? There are dozens and dozens of investment sets out there and this may not be one of them but I look forw

  • Still, some people are behaving if LEGO's job should be releasing investment worthy sets instead of being a children's toy manufacturer, judging these releases as a bad and disappoi

Very cool but $270 is way too expensive and i'm even a fan of the show... Holy cow, how much did Lego pay for the license?  Should be no more $200.

I bet the set will be in-demand initially and turn into a slow seller because of the price alone.

i saw that. page 4 is messed up :(

Definitely not worth the 270$ xD Seriously... Only thing that justifies the massive price up is the wall paper because the rest is stickers, and even that we only get 16 of. One could argue that they have to do a new hair piece for catwoman, and batman's mask is printed too, but these things do not justify such a price... For 150 I would have probably said the same thing... I am absolutely not getting one of these unless I can find it for around 30% of RRP...

In the video, how proudly is he saying 'this is also a new sticker'... Who cares about new stickers? Perishable items. I get it that the graphics designer worked a lot and did a damn good job, but why not print more of them? I can't believe LEGO can't reuse the machinery gadget printing in tons of other sets.

Box may not have such bright, strong colors like the previous pic

Is that all ?

what u got?

Costs same as Ewok Village in Hungary. Hmh. Still very expensive. I will buy it because I have to have all exclusives and can afford it, but most people will prioritize other sets. Especially that TV Batman is barely known there.

Yes, generally i look at the buying price and estimate the future selling price. So on this occasion i wont buy any.

Or it tanks fast because of the high price and retires after a year. Anyway the price is most likely a result of outrageous license fees of the Classic Series, they seem to milk it especially hard.

That's quite possible and good luck to whoever starts buying them early in case that happens.

Man.....as a huge Adam West BATMAN fan, I want to love this.....but I can't.

The price point, along with the incomplete looking aspect of it (I'm going to have to MOC a good portion of this to make it a great display piece) has me thinking twice about buying this. Was hoping it'd be more in line with the Arkham Asylum prices/piece count.

I think they should have done this as 2 different sets.  This year release a nice Batcave, next year release a good Wayne Manor that sits on top of it like Jabba's Palace/Rancor Pit.  Each priced at a more reasonable $200ish.

Looks like I will try and just get the Batmobile by itself on ebay.

For my personal collection? That's exactly what I was thinking

I can only have it sealed. Ordering stuff to my parents' huge storage rooms in Hungary while working in the UK to get the actual funds. No storage space in the City of London, just a room costs as much monthly as a family home in rural US lol.
