Tumbler for sure. The Joker minifig is iconic and the Dark Knight trilogy will never be equaled. Slave I and X wing are remakes and will be remade again.

Slave I UCS is the first of its kind and therefore not a remake.. (there were only Slave I playsets so far).

I think that's a distinction without a difference, if you're someone who just wants to build and own a particular moment, scene or vehicle from your favorite movie.  8097 is the exact same "thing" just on a smaller scale.  And not a mini scale (like the polybag Tumbler), just a "normal" one. 8097 is a fine set in its own right.

IIRC, this was the 3rd Slave I

To me, Slave I trumps Tumbler, but I think they're basically a tie. Boba Fett is uber popular and this Boba is the best made. If I have to choose, I'd say (because of the rabid Batman fan base and the whole Heath Ledger angle):

1. Tumbler

2. Slave I

3. Red 5

But if we're talking about investing and investment strategy, Red 5 moves to the top. It's going to be done sooner than the other two no matter how you slice your bananas. While it won't see the same % return, you'll (likely) be able to sell for profit and roll your $$ into one of the others.

Just for kicks. If the x-wing, tumbler, and slave I were retiring all at the same time, which set would you bet on?

Tumbler all the way. No discussion needed.

I guess it depends.

For me it's

1. Slave I

2. X-Wing

3. Tumbler

Also because personally I don't like the tumbler :-P I wouldn't want to have it on display instead of one of the other two... actually I don't want to have it on display at all :-P (maybe if Emazer or somebody else here wanted to give me one for free under the condition that I don't sell it but build and display it I would though... actually I really would be interested in building it ^.^ but that's all).

The minifigs are nice, even though batman isn't anything special anymore. The Joker minifig is overrated but will probably stay overrated so that alone might be a pusher! (So that's a wildcard if you ask me!)

But there have been so many batmobiles already and the tumbler is only one of them. Next movie there will be another one. And in the computer games there already are other ones... so I don't think it will stay as iconic as the X-Wing or Slave I for example.

So the Joker minifigs is the biggest PLUS the set has going for it and if it wouldn't be included I wouldn't have any doubts about the superiority of X-Wing and Slave I.

But there have been so many batmobiles already and the tumbler is only one of them.

I get your point, but the Tumbler is not just another Batmobile.  That's like saying the Slave 1 is just another starship.

1st choice: Tumbler or Slave, since they have been out for a shorter period of time than Red Five

Good question. I would take both over 10240 because that set is a refresh. In my opinion, it will always be capped (ROI-wise) by the 1999 UCS version. While the Slave 1 and Tumbler have non-exclusive, each don't have a direct older version (advanced build-wise).

No it's not like that at all (your logic is flawed)... Saying the Batmobile is just another "car" would be like saying "Slave I is just another starship".

If Starwars would bring out new Slave I starships with every star wars movie and LEGO would build new Slave I starships every now and then, who are differently enough (as are the batmobiles) then we would have an equal situation.

Here you can see quite some batmobiles. The Tumbler might be "unique" but the batmobile as such is not. It's just another gadget for Batman, it doesn't matter how it looks like. Only because the dark knight triology has been a huge success and one of the more recent batman movies the tumbler is such a big deal.

Long term Slave I will stay Slave I. THE STARSHIP of Boba Fett. If you wanna get Boba Fetts starship, that's what you'll get.

The other question would be: Will they re-release an even better version of Slave I with the ongoing popularity of SW eventually? Don't see it coming for the next 10 years since they have enough going on right now.

So there won't be another Version of the Tumbler at least, that's something. But maybe there's a good reason that there won't.

Saw these in a brick and mortar store in Santa Clara, CA today. It's been a while since I've seen them on the shelves. They had three...seal code 27R5.

Never say never.  They are making a film in 2018 on Solo that supposedly is filled with Boba Fett. They won't pass up the opportunity to rehash the slave 1 again, and again.

Don't forget those tires - I'd take a set of those over the joker for the long term hands down right now.

That's another great point you bring up. Don't like the tumbler per se but would like to have a crack at building one.  One of those sets that even non batman fans would have an interest in.  + if you're into the whole military mod stuff then this set would be a great place to start.

I had a similar thought. With that movie coming I have to imagine the Slave 1 is going to be available in some way, shape or form.

Lego Shop in Switzerland has removed the Exclusive or Hard to Find tag. Maximum purchases is at 5, not 1. I wonder ...
