If this set goes away in July/August, it will be at or above $340 shipped by Christmas 2015. Easily double (after fees) by Christmas 2016.

Update from Downtown Disney California- no Red 5's in stock. Just happened to be there with the kids to do the whale build and thought I'd check.

4 left at Lego S&H Europe according to brickset (this is easy to test by some risk-taker as limit is 5 :)

got a quick restock to 100 units..currently at 91

I was lucky enough to pickup another 4 at £97.99 in my area, seems like they've pretty much gone oos everywhere in the UK now. I also snagged a few AT-AT'S and Star Destroyers for cheap. Was a good morning :money:

Damn...I didn't even know the 10240 was still available at Argos. About an year ago most of the nice Lego sets worth having disappeared from Argos in general and I was left under the impression this thing is not coming back in the Argos stores anymore. Hmm..lesson learned!

It was, it was

The big retailers, especially Argos/Asda do this kinda thing a lot. They will just find in a random warehouse's boxes of old/retired Lego sets, distribute them randomly across the UK, then set another random price. Happens atleast a couple of times a year.

Ok, great. Thanks.

As for LEGO Shop at Home Europe stock: stock refill / shipping is listed for July 20th

Just picked up 3 red fives at my local Argos. 2 were a bit battered I.e hole in front of box and other side torn. I rejected 2 out of 3. Kept one, but creased but ok. For 40% off its not a bad deal but only sticking mint boxes for resell I couldn't plunge another 200 quid for damaged boxes. Was I crazy?

If you think you can buy a damaged box one for less than £98 in the future, then no.

maybe, maybe not. I've been looking at r2 d2 sets being sold on eBay and the not so minty boxes don't do particularly well and I can't be bothered with hassle post sale either.

Go back and collect them.

Personally for that price I would have got both of them, and maybe asked for a small discount if possible. Actually I would have paid a bit more if I had the opportunity to buy them in my local store. If you believe that the set will do well,  trying too hard to acquire a set as cheap as possible makes little difference in future gains but in your case prevented you from acquiring the sets.

a store in London. It's too late for me to go back now.

Ahh shame man, I personally would have taken them, even with box damage.

Argos are terrible for damaging boxes. Luckily the 4 I picked up the other day were excellent. You must have just been unlucky

Actually I think you have been very lucky with your order to get all 4 in excellent condition from Argos!

Was dreading it and knew the risk. I only sell what I would personally buy, so damaged boxes  were not an option. I have a few bought from LEGO Shop at Home in mint condition bought with various promos, so paid a small premium for these vs the 98 quid, but I feel better for it.

I'd state "No Box" in the listing as buyers love to complain about the tiniest ding in a box. There are a few sellers on eBay selling without boxes for this very reason. However, expect at least a 25% drop in value for one without a box. This is why buyers collect expensive sets from me so that I don't risk loss or postal damage. I'm out of the game once I offload my last stash before Xmas, just too much hassle for little reward.
