10240 - UCS: Red Five X-wing Starfighter

I know this was mentioned in the UCS thread, but probably worthy of its own. Hoth Bricks has pics and info on the new UCS X-Wing, Price will be $199.99 US and it looks like it will come out in May.

Can I buy them off you for $325 shipped?

Amazon 3rd sellers still have it for $260! Action now!

Amazon.de still has it for about 185$ ea.

currently on b/o but if u are willing to roll the dice

Anyone know how much the US differs from UK market? Is there a big demand in UK compared with US? Can still pick these up pretty easy over here. I'm hanging out until May and using the 10% discount along with points I've accumulated at Lego shop.

Question:
What is the difference between the older X-Wing 7191 & The Red Five X-Wing 10240?

Are these the same Fighter Planes?

Same ship.  The 10240 is slightly larger with more detailed engines.  The 7191 has a classic box.  Both great builds and fun sets.  Great for display and play.

I thought they didn't remake UCS's?

This was the first UCS remake.  No rules against it. :picknose:

And if it happened once, it can happen again.

I believe the mechanism to fold the wings was also improved upon with the newer version.

just chaos....

and I would expect a remake of the MF, DS maybe (more display style like the old or play like the new?), but the others are not likely anytime soon if ever.  X-wing and MF are the two iconic ships that did not have a lot of variations available, so remakes are not surprising.

I thought Lego has stated in interviews and stuff that they only do a "remake" if the new version improves or adds to the existing one. So we've had a remade X-Wing and Sandcrawler. I bet they "remake" all of the UCS sets. Wouldn't bother me as i missed most of them the first time around.

Since I ordered the Red Five a few days ago off Lego.com, will they definitely fulfill that?  I know that it said out of stock for 30 days or something, but my email seemed to indicate that I would eventually get it.  If that is so, why would people be paying $300+ for the set already?

I think there will way too many new STAR WARS vehicles and characters to waste time on older UCS remakes.

Your order is not guarantee but the $300+ is guarantee

Thanks for the article Jaisonline.

Call me crazy, I Kinda Like the old version better.

I ordered a Red 5 on April 18th; I think at the time the expected ship date on the website said April 26th.  It looks like it has flipped on my order from Backordered to In Process.

Well, nothing is "definite" until it says "shipped"... (though "in warehouse" is 99% also)... but I think they will ship eventually.  ... so anyway... where are people paying $300+ for them? ... I might have 1 or 2 I could part with.

I ordered 1 from Lego shop at home and received an email estimating the ship date as June 7th. Right now I'm just a collector but the limit of 2 had me thinking of grabbing a 2nd one to put aside for later.

Might be an excellent idea ;)

True especially with the upcoming movies.  I do speculate Lego will capitalize on demand for sire on specific older sets like 10179 MF and maybe 10175 vader.  Another 10179 will fly off the shelves like the Tumbler did for many, many months (even if it was a $500 set).  I doubt we'll see the other ones remade but what do I know :)

If a 10179 remake does happen, we can probably expect more news coverage about our investing hobby though...
