I'd be happy to buy one from you! My family is having a rough time getting to a store close by who has some. Shipped to KS Zip 66534? Thanks.... the market is flooded with greedy resellers... literally 147 listings on amazon and many on ebay. We just want a LEGO... not a grinchy profit.

Is  there any way you would be able to buy one for me and ship it to KS 66534? We are in small town and online is bust... looking for a favor not to be taken advantage of.

Sorry, cannot help you. I would check the classifieds here or on other forums, as the market will dictate the price you pay.

Happy hunting.

Just stopped by the Lego Store in downtown Chicago - Michigan Ave. On the shelves were about 15 minty R5s, 41R5 seal codes.

Ditto at Phoenix Lego store, yesterday.

It was a whole wall of Red 5. On every shelf that used to hold a TFA set or a JW set was now a Red 5.

It was a little disconcerting.

9493 success is really quite amazing. I'm 50/50 on whether that's a predictor for 10240. It's easy to say "yes, it's a sure thing - just look at 9493." But I think it's a little more complex than that.

Will be going to some Lego stores to try to get another one. This set will be a sure thing IMO.

How big will it get is another story, and only time can tell...

It's sold out at Lego LEGO Shop at Home and now selling for 25% above RRP on German ebay. Let's see how this will develop in the coming weeks.

I totally understand. I can sell you one at cost:

- $215 buy in

- Gas and vehicle: $5

- Time: $50 x 3 hours = $150

- Shipping: $25

- Shipping materials: $5

Total: $400.

Luckily you don't have to pay Ebay and Paypal fees.

Seriously though - It's currently $255 on Amazon FBA.  Once someone ships it to you - retail + tax + shipping + $0?(amount for their trouble) what are you expecting to save, $20?

Wow... I now see my first post seemed a bit rude and I am sorry for that. I am truly sorry for offending anyone, I don't know the community and didn't mean to cause such a stir. I ask for your forgiveness for the ignorant nature of my first post. I thought this was about helping others get in on deals and the inside scoop if you will. I'm annoyed at the greed surrounding these products, as conveyed by the volatile market. Not putting that on you all, but rather the 150 listings on ebay and amazon at Christmas time.

I don't feel very good about coming back to this site after a flaming like this... I think everyone would've been better of if you all just said like Bold-Arrow did "Hey, I see you're new here and probably don't know what you just said will offend a few people so live and learn! Fellow brickers, let this one go- he's a newbie. By the way, check out local stores for your best shot."

Thank you to the ones who pointed out LEGO B&M stores, I think I've secured my set in a location a few hours away. The manager was kind enough to hold one for me. Merry Christmas all, and again please forgive my rudeness earlier in the forum.

I think the challenge here is that you basically said we are all "greedy" ... like that was a condescending view. Most of the folks here are buying legos and then trying to make a profit. Your assumption that greed is bad is what set most folks off. Prices reflect a combination of supply and demand for any particular good or service. To blame a price on a "greedy" person simply conveys a particular bias and simply put, an ignorance, on how a simple market operates.

Just because you assumed that this is a place for an "inside track" doesn't change the fact that you wanted something (greed) from the group as well.

In the end we are all looking out for ourselves, our families, and simply put, our own best interests.

To expect anything else is simply naive. I am sorry you had a bad experience, but my experience is that vast majority of folks in this forum are thoughtful and very interesting. I have grown to enjoy their participation and look to them for camaraderie and shared experience through our lego investing journey. I wish you much fun and happiness on your quest to find a Red 5. That is how many of us got started ....

Just relax. People around here make a lot of jokes. You'll find this is a community with tons of love (from tons of resellers).

Yes, ignorance was thick in my first post. Ignorance on the market, not at all, I know capitalism. Just annoyed with it. However, I can't take back what I said and you nailed it in your first paragraph.

I apologize to all of you. We are all selfish, and I put it right out there in a way that offended some. Thanks for your reconciliation, I appreciate your kindness.

I'm chilling now.... haha. I believe that, it just came off the wrong way with 10 posts of sarcasm and a lack of assistance or helpful criticism.

well then, moving on.

I am surprised price hasn't gone up @ amazon. this set has been relatively hard to find yet price has stagnated .

I agree. Over 100 sellers with a range around $250.... that's gotta change one way or the other pretty soon here as they realize they couldn't get their Christmas sales. I'll just be thrilled when I get to look at mine above my desk everyday!

Do you think its anything to do with a lack of a Jerk Porkins Mini Figure? :)  I'd hazard that people have taken their foot off the gas over the last couple of days but it'll start a gradual climb soon.
Saying that on the UK amazon site all the "reasonably" priced sets have either been taken out or jacked up - asking is almost 2 x MRSP.  Wondering how quickly the ebay price will rise.

Lol .. Just a random observation . Given how long it has been gone from most retailers , price haven't moved much. Not that I'm expecting a huge jump right away .

Wait...are you going to waste hours of gas and time to drive to buy one instead of buying one online for around $255?

The contrition is appreciated, but I'm surprised you feel like you were flamed.  Not one of the responses above called you a name - I was actually expecting worse.

Feel free to stay and grab some good deals, just please avoid the name calling.

In all seriousness, why not jump on it at $250? That's only a few dollars more than MSRP. If you are worried about it disappearing now is the time to pick it up.

Some of my compatriots may have been joking about their costs, but they aren't far off. $250 may sound like a lot, but when you factor in all those things that they are doing for you, you are just putting an actual cost to what you would have had to do for yourself (gas, time, etc).

Oh yeah.... I didn't share enough detail and am well aware of the fuel and opportunity costs associated with driving to get a set. Fortunately, I am visiting family in said location next week so those costs are already sunk!

You and me both my friend! Most people on here will say "what do you expect this is an investment website". To me that is a crappy excuse to stop acting like a decent human being.
