Picked one up at my local Lego store in London at the weekend.  They had quite a few on the shelves.

Worth getting a few more, given the new film?  What's your views on whether this should be a quick flip or a lng term hold, once it has sold out?

Can you explain a bit more?

There has been A LOT of these made in the last year. It is still available in Europe even though it is retired.

That being said the x-wing 9439? has done extremely well 300%+. The big question is: is there enough demand to out weigh the supply.

I  personally don't see double msrp for 4 years. Just my opinion.

Nah, the B-Wing is not very pretty, while the X-Wing is considered by most people to be a beautiful ship. Anyone who wants to have the best Lego X-wing ever created on display will want a Red Five. Sure, it may not reach double RRP within a year after retirement. But it's still going to do well and it will appreciate well over time for the next decade or so, until Lego might release a new UCS X-wing again.

Bwing was a different kettle of fish. Early retirement and some of the best discounts on Exclusives ever.

I agree that oversupply is the issue in EU with 10240 but it hasn´t hurt 9493. The next UCS version should be a TFA or following movie one so time is on our side if we are patient it will increase in value. Expect animmediate kick to 300 euros on EOL and then double RRP within 2 or 3 years.

Agree with the previous comments. The performance of

This won't ever be comparable to the B-Wing; Very confident this one will be successful, it's just too iconic.

B-Wing could be worth more down the road since it is not a refresh and only available for 20 months or so.  If it only it would appear in a new film... X-wing will always have more demand though :)

I think the B wing may be a suprise package in 5 - 10 years. The horde didn't seem to latch onto it, and unlikely to be remade.

It sounds like you weren't around for May the Fourth two years ago...the horde was in full form with this set that day...

edit: It's definitely unlikely to be made as a UCS ship unless it's featured in a future movie.

Amazon UK has 9493 for 3x RRP so how can 10240 possibly fail? IMHO, it'll far exceed 10227. All you have to remember is what a massive part R5 played in the movie. Fill your boots guys, I am!

Just stopped by the Lego Store in downtown Chicago - Michigan Ave. On the shelves were about 15 minty R5s, 41R5 seal codes.

That's not good news for the 10+ in my inventory.

R5 and Slave 1, UCS TIE and Sandcrawler all in stock. Force Awakens sets except for First Order Transport all sold out.

Employee told me the new movie has completely taken over SW set sales.

I spent the whole day building this set and I have to say I'm extremely impressed. The "displayability"; mainly the expanding wing design/engines are fantastic. After building it I have more faith in this set. It was much more enjoyable to build than the Tumbler and newer ISD.

If the Red Five hasn't retired it may take a while to appreciate but I do like the set regardless. May just end up with a fleet of x-wings :)

Call to check now in the EU

So it´s a face off between Tumbler and Imperial Hotel to see which is the last interesting retiring soon set to sell out. Will they last till mark down season???

I'd be happy to buy one from you! My family is having a rough time getting to a store close by who has some. Shipped to KS Zip 66534? Thanks.... the market is flooded with greedy resellers... literally 147 listings on amazon and many on ebay. We just want a LEGO... not a grinchy profit.

Is  there any way you would be able to buy one for me and ship it to KS 66534? We are in small town and online is bust... looking for a favor not to be taken advantage of.

Calling out "greedy resellers" in this forum may get you tarred and feathered...

This should also be taken to PM.

Hysterical! Instead of buying Red 5, I should've been counting & calling out grinchy resellers for the last two & a half years...

I'm building this set right now and I agree.  Extremely fun build and I'm really impressed with the internal design and the overall size.  Very, very cool set.
