This set's new found popularity has changed somebody's mind in Billund. I wonder if it is more cost effective for TLG to simply keep Red 5 around 2 more years rather than produce a brand new UCS X-Wing model for Rogue One next year?

It sounds like Rogue one is about the ground war, so I'm not sure that an X-wing will be all that vital. Who knows?

No matter what, you will need to add this to your collection and reselling plans as it will be a hot set this holiday season!

If this set goes back to sold out within the next few days (a bet I would hedge), then I think it's telling that it's doing it's final dance. 

Usually when that sold out tag is applied, it could come back and do a quick encore, but it usually doesn't last long.  Tower of Orthanc did a similar dance recently.  But, I suspect Red Five's time is nearing.

Well, as I speak, I went and just checked on it's status and Red 5 back to sold out.  YEP, following the same pattern as TOO did recently.

Well sure, have your Bowie and Iron Maiden.  You fell victim to one of the classic blunders... you forgot the Dance of Joy (also 80's). If we're doing the retirement dance it should be joy

back on topic - just picked up probably my last Red 5 from walmart site-to-store tax free pickup in NH  - nice and dented in but still sealed.  had a flashback about the time i refused 2 SSD's  last summer at the same site-to-store counter because the boxes were dented and had to take a time out to sit down in the blood pressure checker machine to cry a little while while pretending to have my blood pressure checked in the pharmacy department. 

Sort of fresh - seal codes 27R5.

I ordered one from U.S. Shop at Home yesterday when it said it was on backorder, but my current status says "in warehouse".  I thought I was done with this set but I couldn't help buying a couple extra with Episode 7 around the corner.  I'm still not sold on that black and orange X-wing.
