December 30, 20159 yr I have had the privilege of meeting Dr Dave Watford along with Huw Millington of Brickset fame during several of my work excursions to London. They were always gracious enough to come to take a ride into the city to meet with me when time was available. Not only are these two extremely nice gentleman, it is very evident that they know their LEGO. In all honesty, I would be shocked if you can find something to stump them on. Dr Dave works Huw on Brickset, is a Features Writer with the magazine Bricks and he has his own LEGO blog called Gimme LEGO. Dr Dave's blog articles are always detailed with strong solid points and educational, I highly recommend it. For the past five years Dr Dave has been posting awards for Best Theme, Best Non-Licensed Set, Most Disappointing Theme, Best Licensed Set, Most Disappointing Set, Best Minifigure, The "Better than Expected" Award, Most Welcome LEGO-Related Announcement and the Gimme LEGO Readers Choice Award. This is where we need your help and giving your opinion for the list of entries. December 30, 20159 yr That's a tough call for me. I have over half of these sets, but I haven't opened any of them

It was fun to read over his picks. But trying to make a pick for the Reader's Choice Award...wow, that was difficult. There are a lot of great sets on that list to choose from.
December 30, 20159 yr A lot of love for the temple of airjitzu so far on the poll. I must admit, I saw it for the first time this past week (in a Lego store visiting in-laws 3 hours away), and I was impressed. I had not considered buying it before and now I'm intrigued...
December 30, 20159 yr I build the temple of airjuitzu on Christmas and what an awesome set! Absolutely love the Japanese theme! It shows Lego is not just for kids.
December 30, 20159 yr None of the above. Mercedes Benz Arocs 42043 hands down (for me) :-) Runner up: Crawler Crane 42042 You can see where I'm going with this :-) Edited December 30, 20159 yr by legone3
December 30, 20159 yr I think the most talked about (whether famous or infamous) set this year has to be Wall-E. The airtime this little set received was amazing. I personally love this set and have motorized my Wall-E and corrected his head. It was a close call though as I also love the Temple of Airjuitzu.

It's a nice looking set but I have to think the driving force in its popularity is love for the character/movie...and I just didn't realize there were so many WALL-E fans out there.

December 30, 20159 yr The AROCS is a magnificent set (I also love the Unimog, its spiritual ancestor). But Blue Power Jet, F40 and Temple of Airjitsu would be my choices from what is there.
December 30, 20159 yr Slave I gets my vote. However, it's the only one on the list that I've actually built, but one of my favorite large Star Wars builds so far. If the Birds IDEAS set was on the list I would have voted for that. It's a non-licensed set that is very unique. My Runners-up would be Temple of Airjitzu, Detective's Office, and Ferris Wheel. It's tough to compare $200 exclusive, hard-to-find sets with Scooby Doo and City sets for this vote.
December 31, 20159 yr I think I ended up with the ToA, over Slave 1 and the Ferris Wheel. It was a tough choice, but ToA is just a magnificently designed set. I feel like it pushes the envelope of LEGO design. Although Slave 1 is just beautiful in person, and is the best one ever done, because they've done it a few times now it got just one less point than ToA on my scoring sheet.
December 31, 20159 yr From that List., I would have to go with the Temple of Airjitzu. 2nd Place: Slave 1 3rd Place: Its a tie between Detective Office and the Ferris Wheel.
December 31, 20159 yr Airjitzu....hands down. They are all great sets, but Airjitzu is by far the most beautifully designed.

Based on that sale, something wasn't selling since they gave away a $60 set then a $50 set to entice people. People like it this much but aren't buying it? We're all pretty sure they're buying DO, FW & Slave I... Edited December 31, 20159 yr by dcdfan
December 31, 20159 yr personally for me, 70751 Temple of Airjitzu is outright winner/best build of all. remove all the minifigures and it has lot of resemblance to structures that i feel at home.

We're all pretty sure they're buying DO, FW & Slave I... If you believe that the investor horde has a say in matters - then it makes sense that DO, FW, & Slave 1 are all being bought. Investors believe in those sets. I don't think investors believe in ToA. So I don't think you're seeing as many units moving. Investors seem to shy away from Ninjago, so it makes sense that they aren't buying them up.
