I'm not too familiar with these wall pieces. Are these used in a lot of city or creator sets? They look pretty cool and I'm just trying to calculate any factors that would make this promo more valuable than train promo. Thanks.

Totally agree... most regular consumer will assume they are getting size of regular winter village sets at $100. Paying $200+ is risking for high percentage of return.

I bought one on Bricklink just over a week ago for $21 shipped. It is used but was complete with box and instructions. Right now I feel like I got it for a steal!

I don't see how that's a problem. Just show them the size of the box in the photos - set it next to a dollar bill or a ruler or whatever. Warn them about the size and emphasize the rarity and collectibility of the set. It will still sell. I have never had an issue since 1999 selling on eBay because I go out of my way to make sure my buyers know exactly what they're getting and they never get any nasty surprises when my item arrives at their house.

Price seems to be getting unreal on eBay, is someone trying to jack up the price? Am I missing something? (Got two only)

It's a problem on Amazon. On eBay, if you use non-stock photos and put a penny or something in the photo to show scale, there probably won't be a return. 

Seems that the run on these is only affecting sellers who ship outside Europe as you can still get it for 40-50 euros on national European Ebays. What states or countries are people shipping recent sales to?

 

Those prices are insane. I wonder how high prices can go. Imagine having the choice between a tiny Gingerbread House or for the same price a big set like Ninjago City, Ghostbusters Headquarters or the Disney Castle. I know which one I would spend my money on.

Looks like someone from Canada is trying to "stabilize the price" nice way of saying undercut, listing 10 at $150.

Maybe they kicked the whole thing off by buying the 40USD sets  and want to make their money quickly before the bubble bursts.

And anyone who still has a few deserves to take advantage and sell - 100 -150 whatsits seems a very good return on a 2 year hold if you consider it´s a set that would have retailed for 30-35.

the stock accumulators are helping all other stock holders of this set. 

taking out perceived lowballers and consolidating the seller count can only mean one thing - increase in prices.  

the only person who this is going to end badly for are the people who already sold their stock of this set as they pine themselves to sleep cheeks wet with tears of regret.

the individual(s) with the nads and capital are going to profit handsomely from the 1%er prime customers for whom this amount of money for this small a set is inconsequential.

the individual(s) with the nads and capital are going to profit handsomely from the 1%er prime customers for whom this amount of money for this small a set is inconsequential.

I have a completely different outlook. Personally I am thrilled to have sold mine for $50 + shipping cost (about a year ago) IT WAS FREE!!! Sold all 3 to thrilled customers who left glowing feedback. I think someone else already said it, anything past $100 feels like robbing people. I can see tons of people expected more than a TINY little box, and returning it as they expecting more. AGAIN it's $38 to acquire the parts, as there are no special parts. I think there will be a whole slew of problems arising from selling a TINY freebie worth $40 for $150-$200 ! IMHO

its not me so it will be fun to sit back and watch this experiment unfold.

same thing happened when someone cleaned out supply of Lincoln memorials on bricklink and undercutters on amazon.  price doubled and then pulled back about 15% when a new round of new loballers came out.

GBH had a very limited production run so supply can be assumed to be very small and limited number of remaining loballers.

should be some interesting reading in the reviews coming up probably to which the tagline "that's what she said" can be added.

1%er's don't care.  as long as their kid gets what they want.  same people buy $60+ little pink brick buckets that retailed for $14.99.

If something appears to be ridiculously over valued, then it probably is. As always, the people who are buying up the expensive ones now with the idea that they can double their money by Xmas are the ones who are likely to suffer. If someone out there really wants to pay over 200 USD for one for a personal build or gift, then they are clearly a valued customer/fruitcake and you should make damn sure to sell them anything else you can - 10179´s, Chima Fire Bikes, Collector´s Edition City Fire stations....

Seriously, this phenomena really threw me for a loop. I really thought when my wife sold her 2 sets as quick flips in 2015 for 50 USD that she did great. When I saw similar prices last year, I thought that might be the range going forward for awhile and I was waiting for closer to Christmas this year to sell thinking they might hit better numbers. I honestly don't know what will happen in the coming months. This set could either hit ludicrous values or the bubble will burst violently.

In either case, I'm selling a couple now and holding my remaining ones for later. Maybe I can now afford the UCS Millenium Falcon.
