I'd probably list them individually at a competitive price for each model. You'd be surprised at the number of collectors who just need one or two of the older, hard to find offerings to round out their collection.

 

So are Mixels retired. Series 8 sold out in days and now gone from categories completly.

this is the first I've heard...

saw all 9 variations of series 8 on my visit to the Lego store yesterday...

probably just a bug.  Series 9 images have already been out there for a while.

LEGO mentioned that Series 8 sold out online within one day.  Totally ridiculous imo.  I get the resellers game, but to get stuff for kids and have no choice but 3x via ebay is insane.  I spoke with a GM at Target and a local TRU, who actually mentioned that they are not due any stock.  Saw none at my local Lego store the other day, either.  I got the fire themed ones via Amazon, but cannot find the others anywhere, other than resell at this point.  Crazy.

I found 2 sets at Toys R Us and 2 today at Walmart. Sold the first 2 for $85 on Amazon. 

wow. might have to use this as my excuse to stop collecting these, or go check out the local lego store. it's 50/50.  great little builds but there are just so many.

I used Series 8 to get me to $75 for the GWP at LEGO Shop at Home this month. I'm not in the Mixels resell game anymore.

Edit to add: Series 8 is really my favorite series to date.

Mixels share the same typical release schedule as the Collectable Minifigures therefore Series 9 (or this year's third series) should be September at the earliest.

It's official: after BIONICLE G2, Mixels is the next LEGO theme to get the axe after this October's Series 9 hits shelves.

This description from TV show producer Jordan Reichek on LinkedIn confirms all, ending months of speculation since the theme's absence at SDCC:

LEGO / CARTOON NETWORK, "MIXELS"-
SHOWS FINISHED AND DELIVERED...LAST EPSIODE PREMIERS IN SEPTEMBER.
THANKS CARTOON NETWORK AND LEGO! GREAT FUN!

I'm not surprised at all, to be honest. The line just has not been as popular this year as it was in its first couple, and most LEGO themes with media ties like Mixels only last three or so years anyway. Regardless, being a collectable theme I would argue it could have continued on just fine. But to be fair... I blame Cartoon Network's carelessness for the franchise and its fans. No matter what though, it will always be remembered.

We here at Brickset are doing a few things to celebrate the theme's end, which you can read after the break...

• Series 9 set reviews following part one
• Cartoon finale "Nixel, Nixel, Go Away" review

That's a bummer. I enjoy these and was really enjoying the whimsical every day item/theme direction they had been taking with the last couple of series. Oh well.

I can only imagine how more valuable the first series' will be when the entire line is going away. I suppose now to top this all off, we will need some random adolescent rant on in a journal about how LEGO has destroyed their childhood taking away their favorite theme and the company can go stuff themselves or something.

It was time.  I was so tired of my son begging me to buy those dang things every time we went to the store.  I'm ecstatic to see the death of the Mixels line!!  Of course, now he'll probably want Ninjago instead.

I'm gonna guess TRU knew this and that's why they raised the price to $5.99 on the last batch.
