Did anyone see this? A ghostbusters HQ set is rumored to be coming in 2016.

LEGO Ghostbusters fans are in for a real treat next year! Over on YouTube, Just2Good – one of the most reliable sources when it comes to early LEGO set news – has states that there will be a LEGO Ghostbusters Firehouse HQ set coming in 2016!

According to him, the set’s number will be 75827 and it will contain a whopping 4,600 pieces! Obviously, with such a high number of pieces comes a high price to pay. Just2Good stated that the Firehouse HQ will retail for a total of $350.00 USD. As for the release date, we should see this bad boy hitting the shelves on January 1st, 2016.

In regards to the actual set, we still dont know the finer details. We don’t know exactly which minifigures will be included, however, we do know that it will be based off the original film rather than the new movie that’s coming out next year.

Though details are lacking, I’m pretty sure many of you are quite hyped for this new set. As always, we should expect more details to come out the closer we get to the month of January. Perhaps, we might even get an early tease/look at the set at this year’s New York Comic Con which is going to be held between October 8-11.

In my perfect world, Ecto1 retires before Christmas and GBHQ comes with Stay Puft  

I wouldn't think it would come with it as that's the only reason for some people to buy that dimensions piece...

Do we even know what movie this set will be based on?  Is the same building being used in the new Ghostbusters movie?  The Cadillac in the new movie is certainly nothing close to the 1959 Cadillac from the first two movies.

I'm not sure a $350 piece would be a wise choice for a possible flop...

You are assuming it will be a flop.  Might not be.  The new set can be based on the new movie, with the new Ecto-1 and the new characters.  The building might be the same....or slightly different.  I think there is a fair chance that the current Ecto-1 will be unique.  Just a guess. There are a lot of questions.  What if the building is the same, but has new characters and car?  Maybe the original Ecto-1, with the old characters becomes super desirable.

Last night the wife and I watched "The Spy."  Same director as new ghostbusters, Paul Feig.  It SUCKED.  And I like some of the cast being used in new ghostbusters but based on last night, I'm calling "Flop" as well.

They might need bigger molds...

The old Ghostbusters is hard to beat. You have some of the all time comic geniuses in that movie. While the new one probably could never equal the old in quality, it might do so in dollars.

I just can't get over the fact they filmed it in Boston. I saw them taking apart the set in Chinatown after it was over, pealing off the "brick walls" off an old garage.

My guess is that the HQ will be released thanks to the success of the ecto1 set.

Meaning that Lego planned to sell the HQ to people who already bought the ecto1.

An HQ without ecto1 wouldn't surprise me at all. They even can stop to produce the ecto1 whenever they want...

All of this can sound suprising, and even if I would not bet on it, I wouldn't say it's not possible either...

 

edit: and what about the thounsands of guys who bought an ecto1 set ? If Lego put the same vehicule inside the HQ set, it means they will have another one. Lego sets are expensive but I doubt they act like so. I highly doubt that the HQ will feature the ecto1 (ideas set). But an ecto1A from ghostubsters 2... yes, why not.

i dare say that any large lego building that opens up with a hinge will not be a flop, regardless of the movie ;)
