Ok so anyone have thoughts as to when the fire brigade will be retired? got to be soon, i mean there has never been 4 modular buildings for sale at the same time before. i want to buy up a bunch but i worry that because its been on the market soooo long it might be over sold, similar to the death star. Also feel free to post comments about other modular buildings, theres quite a few to talk about.

Hmmmmmmmmmm I only see a few that sold for close to 200......I would suggest you do what Quacs said and wait to see if it comes back in stock. It might be gone forever.

I'm not banking on it coming back at this point personally. I think it is risky to try to flip.

Hello,

I think I have bad news, it is back in stock in Amazon France...

No, it's not.

That's a 3rd party seller, not Amazon itself. And the price is

Hello,

if you want to buy FB, there's always some for sale on amazon, just like any other retired sets. You should read and learn more before posting.

I assure you it was amazon at 139 euros.

But they had only one in stock :)

Tried to catch it but too late :)

If they only had 1 in stock, it was probably a return so nothing to worry about.

I have the option to buy several. Tempting!

Two Words: Asian Markets!

Even so, haven't many more of these babies been produced (and horded)? I'm worried this could damage the secondary market returns. Hopefully not!

By the way, welcome ninjasnake1337!

Edit: Yes, the secondary markets will be damaged by the time frame of the set, it remains to be seen as to how severe that will actually be.

I guess we will have to just wait and see. The Asian markets are pretty big, so I guess we have to hope there are more AFOL's than sets ;)

That's my concern and why I'm partly reluctant to buy more.  It wouldn't surprise me if say, 10,000 Cafe Corners and Green Grocers were made versus 500,000 Fire Brigades and Grand Emporiums.  It'd be nice if someone at Lego could leak factory production numbers to us.  I'm willing to put some coins in their brown envelope for that info.  Asia could open up a large customer base for us but, I would expect customs problems in India and China if the sets being sent there aren't current.  For example, you cannot import used or obsolete items into India above a certain value without government approval.  I work in IT and had to buy brand new PCs in Delhi locally at high cost rather then export ones from the UK that were 3 only months old.  Interesting times ahead I think.

It's already risen in price. It won't make nearly as much as the earlier ones, but I will be happy if it breaks

It's not too far away from

What's the typical media for selling to an "Asian market?"  Ebay?  A local Ebay equivalent (i.e. Flipkart in India)?

Thanks for your take on India, I wasn't aware of that.

As for the FB, I'm not expecting CC returns and it's not even one of my favorite modulars but I'd be disappointed with a <100% ROI by next Christmas!

Rather curious to see if it picks up!

With sets like this, my hypothesis (I will be writing a blog explaining it) is that these sets will jump in value. If you sell early, you will do well. At a certain point, everyone will start trying to dump them and that will kill the price.

I have 4 of these. I sold 2 last week for $240 each and I am hanging on to the other 2 for a while. I sold 2 right away because like you stated I think it will sell for more now and then dip quite a bit for a while before it starts to climb. It might take it a long while to get back to $240 so I figured I will sell 2 now and save the other 2 just in case I am wrong.
