Just got the "LEGO00ae.png Star Wars2122.png Rogue One sets now available!" email from LEGO VIP. No mention of the free poly, just the double points. Since I don't think these emails get "live" updates, I am with those of you who think that the whole "no sets available until 11am EST" and "Darth Revan runs out by 10am" is a nice ploy of LEGO to get old stock to move first, and then have the die-hard fans buy the RO sets anyways on separate orders. And those that complain get another minifig that they still have sitting in the warehouse in large bins as a peace offering.

My first place of blame for the Revan was on all the people who bought hundreds of individual key chain orders to get the poly.  Then I come around and realize this is really TLG's fault since they didn't implement a minimum order price to get it, 50-75 could have been a good threshold.  I dunno why Lego even bothered putting Revan on the promo piece I got in the mail. *sigh*

I think they just wanted to clear him out. He is over 2 years old and not part of Disney's future for the franchise.

The AT-ST has rocketed to #3 in Building Toys on Amazon. The discount right off the bat certainly hasn't hurt its sales, I'm sure.

You clearly don't hang out in /r/starwarsrebels or /r/starwarsspeculation.  They have you (or want you) to think otherwise.

I was very disappointed when TLG did not launch the new RO sets at 12 EST, fortunately I live in HI so I waited it until 630 am EST and still no RO sets available. I finally gave up and went to bed. I woke up this morning and the RO sets were there but there were no more Darth Revan's left. I did order a Battle Pack last night just in case this happened but I was not going to buy some key chains just to get Darth Revan, I have no interest in key chains. I did almost buy the SC when the RO sets were not up buy decided not to, in hindsight, I wish I would have. I will now just wait for the RO sets to go on sale over the course of the next year and buy them one or two at a time. Oh well.

Dang.  You're right.  But the future could be bleak for solid stock.  Especially, when Trumpie becomes dicktator and throws up the wall, and forces the lego company to build a factory in the US or they'll have to sell their goods elsewhere.

Did you get the AT-ST? Wal-Mart's already got it on markdown.

I saw that but I would have to order online. Walmart stores in HI have all Lego sets marked up at least 10%. Actually this goes for almost every store that sells Lego's here in HI including The Lego Store. I usually buy me sets online during promotions. I will probably pass on the AT-ST for $32 now that the Raven promotion os over. I will probably push all the new RO sets back to next year. I did buy 4 FA sets from Amazon a couple days ago that were on sale. There is a good chance I will order the Winter Train and maybe the SC tomorrow. I sent TLG an email expressing my displeasure that they did not have RO sets available to purchase when the Force Friday promotion started.

I just finished building krennec's shuttle and I have that I really enjoyed building it! The whole building process was different than normal so it held my attention and I really dig the all black color scheme, it's very slick. The minifigures are top notch in this set and they are all exclusive to it so that was definitely a Bonus. Another cool thing is that there's 4 seats for troopers versus 2 that I originally thought. There isn't many stickers for it being this big of a set so I appreciate that and the new cockpit piece is very impressive looking. Overall I highly recommend it especially at a discount. If krennec and k2 stay exclusive to this for awhile then it'll definitely help it value wise.

So Brick Friday & Cyber Monday have passed, and only afew days left until the UK promotion of the snow globe ends (10th December).

AFAIK none of the TFA sets went TOOS / OOS / Back order during this period, either lego had loads in the warehouse or they just arent selling. No retirements from TFA sets so far, i was expecting afew to have gone by now tbh.

Maybe TLG is holding on to them while awaiting instructions from Disney which vehicles will be included in the Episode 8 movie coming out December 2017 ? And deciding which Lego sets they will release in anticipation of the next episode in the Skywalker saga...

Well, 2016 is wrapping up...

So, as we sail into 2017 and a whole new set of sets are on the way, let's take a look at the retirement sets and what they could bring us in 2017 and beyond.  Here's what I speculate.

#19 - First Order Snowspeeder - I think this set will double, but it will be a slow double that might take a few years to get there.  It's quirky, it was only seen as a background in the movie, and you barely saw the snowtroopers in action.  Overall, it sits as one of those sets that will be in a grey area.

#18 - Hoth Attack & Droid Escape - in the US these sets had a 9 month shelf life.  There really is nothing to either though, and the Han Solo minifigure from the Hoth Attack set was in a polybag a few years back.  The snowtrooper, and rebel trooper are also in other sets, so nothing too exclusive here... but Hoth Sets always seem to do well.  I expect this one to also double in the future.  Droid Escape has the Jawa's..  This is a set you pair with a Sandcrawler.

#17 - Sith Infiltrator & Naboo Starfighter - The sith infiltrator has never been a set that has made a lot of profit, and I don't suspect this one will either.  On top of that, Darth Maul, and Qui-gon are in an upcoming set, so those figures are going to appear again.  I guess, the Watto Minifigure is really the best thing in this one, but Watto is not that iconic of a character.  I feel the same way about the Naboo Starfighter.

#16 - Hailfire Droid - This set is below average in my opinion.  The first Hailfire Droid was far superior.  The minifigures on this one aren't really going to boos the value either.  This is one that might hit 2x but take forever to sell at that price.

#15 - Anakin's Custom Jedi Starfighter - This set doesn't do much for me, but it's one of those quirky sets that some star wars nuts love to own.  Sooo... i'd stash a couple just in case.  But, I suspect it will have slow resale potential.

#14 - Set of Series 3 Microfighters - Microfighters have some juice to them.  I recently sold off a series 2 set for almost 2.3 x it's original RRP value.  I also have sold series 1 complete sets for quite a good amount of profit.  Overall, I still think these little sets have some legs.  Selling them in complete sets makes it easier though.. and just how i've done it.

#13 Imperial Troop Transport - Rebels set with 4 stormies.  Overall, they are unique to the rebels theme, but i'm not sure the Stormtrooper figures themselves will be as in demand.  With the Rogue One battlepack containing more troopers, and every advent calendar containing one, I doubt these skyrocket in value.  Still could easily get close to 2x.

#12 - Geonosis Troopers, Shadow Troopers, and Senate Soldiers - i'm grouping these together.  All of these have interesting minifigures, but i'm not sold they will quickly double your money.  Overall, good to have a few laying around, but nothing worth having a ton of.

#11 - Tie Advanced Prototype - Cool ship, and interesting build..  It's rebels though, and i'm not sure the rebels theme will have long legs.  Same can be said about the Imperial Assault Carrier

#10 - Obi Wants Interceptor - Anakin's Jedi Interceptor has almost hit 3x...  I suspect Obi's interceptor will do a similar.  It was around for a lot less time than Anakin's, and I don't think as many copies were produced.

#9 - Resistence Troop Transporter - I personally like this set.  It's plain jane, but with Carrie Fishers death, this set could very well have some momentum.  It also had a relatively short shelf life of a year.  Overall, not the most iconic of ships, but it's Leia's ship.

#8 - FO Transporter - Captain Phasma, with Flametroopers and FO Stormies will sell this one as EP 8 and 9 approach.  I personally like this set out of all the first wave of Force Awakens sets.  I know others don't, but I like the minifigures, and absolutely think the ship design itself is fun, quirky, and serves its purpose.  My son also plays with this one quite a bit.

#7 - Ewok Village - This set has already jumped up in value... To me it's a great set, and just one of the best Star Wars sets any kid would want.  It's also stacked with minifigures and has a iconic exclusive Leia figure..

#6 - Battlefront Battlepacks - These sets have some interesting variants, and minifigures.  While the builds are nothing great, the minifigures like the Shock Trooper, and some of the rebel alien soldiers could be solid "semi" rare minifigures in the future.  I see these easily doubling, if not quadrupling in a few years.

#5 - Vaders Tie Advanced vs A-wing Starfighter - What I like most about this is how short its shelflife was.  That alone should make it a rarer set in the future.  This one is a crap shoot.  I think it can go either way... but I think because of that it's worth putting in the top.  This is a set that either goes near 4x or hovers near 2.

#4 - Death Star Final Duel - Iconic scene from the OT.  OT sets are usually solid, and this one has a lot going for it.  I think it could do well. It's already jumped out of the gates.

#3 - Battle Droid Troop Carrier - Say what you may about the Phantom Menace, but these Droid vehicles are gold as investments.  The MTT from 2014 is already 160 on amazon, and this set is it's little sister.  I personally, think this was an awesome build, and a great freaking set.  It's by far the best troop carrier, and no one was talking about this one.  I give this one a real chance to hit 140 in a few years.  3x or bust on this one.

#2 - Sandcrawler - Give it time... lots of time, and this set will be the one where you make the most money for little effort.  Even if this set doubles, you make hundreds on it by just having to go to ship a set once.  Not bad.

#1 - Imperial Shuttle Tydirium - This is by far the best set that retired, IMO.  The minfigures are great, and I really like this set and think it will perform very well over time.  I also don't see them making this one again in a long time.

out of the gate, 75134 Galactic Empire Battlepack seems to be doing pretty well.  One of the shortest lived battlepacks with 8.5 month of shop at home availability, this set features the shock trooper which is a fairly iconic figure that is prominently featured in the battlefront game.  only 17 sellers (so far) on amazon main listing with lowest price trending towards $26, double the set's MSRP (ignoring the second listing which is mainly japanese listings for $24).  i picked up most of my stash for $8.39 at target in December.  hard to tell if this is surprise retirement post EOL bump or a true under-hoarded set.  i'm tempted to double my money and move on but wonder if this set has some legs.

Legs will be a couple years down the road. Undercutters will jump in soon and it will be selling for $20 most of the year.

We have a bubble thread for this doom and gloom talk.

that's kind of what i'm thinking.  i may go ahead and let a few go and pat myself on the back for the nice cagr.

all it will take is one deep seller to pee into the punchbowl to end the party.

Another good Battle Pack from the 2016 star wars retirees should be 75088 Senate Commando Troopers, only sold at lego and asda in UK
