Selling Sealed sets that turn out to be Incomplete

Featured Replies

Anyone had this?

I am selling my 9470 Shelob Attacks sets. Sold 3 so far, on the third one buyer says it has 4 parts missing and cannot be built.

He's asked for a refund. I've asked which 4 pieces are missing after sending him the inventory list from Brickset.

Yes, has happened to me

42006 - Brand New, had all actuators, and tread missing. Lego said they no longer had those pieces, and gave me VIP points to cover my full cost of the item.

Possible.  And I think you're doing the right thing.  Let him let you know what's missing, and let him know you'll take care of getting the parts to him.  Hopefully you can source it from your own parts or from one seller on Bricklink.

That's my thinking.

I am building some bricklink orders to source some vintage parts.

But it would be just my luck they are the rare pieces unique to the set.

Plus I am now worried about the 3 I have left for sale.

I've had this happen before and have never dickered around trying to replace parts. Just have them send it back and give the refund. If it's sealed and missing parts, you're asking for negative feedback if you try to save the sale. Just take the loss and move on...it's all part of it.

I have a 20% restock, buyer pays shipping policy. Posted on every auction. Cheaper for them to not send back. Won every case, still at 100%

I sold a sealed T-Rex from 5886, except the sealed set had two right arms.  Replaced it on Bricklink for the lady and of course got no feedback for my effort.  Not worth it in my opinion---give them a refund once they send it back.
