Retailing for $49.99 is a set comprised of 437 pieces and five minifigures including Scooby, Shaggy (exclusive seaweed torso print), fashionable Daphne, and the two criminals of the Lighthouse Keeper aka Verona Dempsey from the third episode in the third season of What's New, Scooby Doo? titled "Fright House of a Lighthouse" and the Swamp Monster aka Mr. Brown (as per the official LEGO site). This is the first set to have two separate cases come together in one setup. It does work well and I'm sure kids will have fun making up their own stories.

To note there was an older episode involving a lighthouse keeper character in the Scooby-Doo/Richie Rich Show on the very first episode "Lighthouse Keeper Scooby" who actually was a real ghost and had little to do with the criminal here based on the latter episode aside from the basic design and idea. As for the other, there is no "Mr. Brown" character in the encyclopedia of crooks (that I can find) and the closest to any sort of Swamp Monster was in episode nine "Soggy Bog Scooby" of the first season for the Scooby-Doo/Richie Rich Show which just like the former lighthouse keeper was an actual monster. There was a Sea Demon in The New Scooby-Doo Mysteries which in appearance at least looks very much like LEGO's Swamp Monster but that costume was worn by two thieves neither with the last name of "Brown".

I've looked at pics of this set numerous times but just now I'm noticing the skull feature in the rock base. Nice touch LEGO!

So is everyone still keen on this set? I just bought is for $38 USD equivalent - pretty happy with that.

Should I hang on till Halloween or just build it?
