I suggested this to Ed earlier today to have communities based on location where members can exchange which stores they got their deals from, meeting up and trading sets, etc. Based on my count, there are at least 87 Targets, 39 Toys R Us', over 100 Walmart's(lost count after 110), and 4 LEGO Shop at Home stores in Illinois. To start things off, I am usually in the Chicago area. I usually go to 4 Targets that are located near my house/school. They are: Chicago McKinley Chicago West Loop Chicago Mid North Chicago Near North Occasionally, I will go to a Walmart or two, and rarely go to the Lego Store because it is located in the middle of Downtown. For me, I like the Chicago West Loop location because it is new. Though all the Targets I have been to always seem to have understaffed checkout lines, I still enjoy looking on their shelves for anything that might have been misplaced. I believed that this is the location that has very organized Clearance shelves, usually with a couple employees lurking around ready to answer questions, or check the prices for stuff. While I was last at this location (Saturday), there were at least 20 Lego Heroica Draida Bay sets for about $4. I heard that Heroica was going to discontinue, so I only picked up a couple to sell immediately. Hope this theme of member location based forums grows!!!!

Orland Park

Yup, Orland Park. Schaumburg is closer so I checked there. Watertower is a little bit of a hike.

Who here went to the Gurnee Mills Grand Opening and grabbed their Lego Store set? If you did, what did you buy to get it?

I bought x2 Funhouse - what a great set. And it's taking every once of willpower to keep from opening the Lego Store set box.

i got a grand emporium, i've been wanting it for awhile now to build and plan on selling the store set. i was going to get up early to make sure i got one but i was super lazy today. i called the store around 5:30pm and they still had the store sets so I went over. i'm not tempted to open mine at all, it looks pretty bleh and can probably be bricklinked for cheap, except for maybe the lego sticker

Anyone in Chicago that is looking for a decent price on Helm's Deep should log onto Toysrus.com and search for a Store Pickup at the Burbank store on the south side. there's one or two left as of late last night. If the $25 off $100 promo is still running, you should be able to grab one for $114 total. They are currently selling for over $150 on eBay and rising.

Chicagolanders - OP store still has Winter Village Cottage sets in stock.  I called to confirm and they still have a stack left. This one appears to be retiring guys - get them while you can!

Thanks.  Already got 2 and built one.  Well, 1/2 built now.  Would not mind getting a few more, I guess.

Thoughts on the Bears loss to the Packers? Imma Bears fan and I'm have no words I'm completely heartbroken...I need emotional support from some other Chicago fans...

Packer fan here - suck it. :)

Steelers!

Go packers! Seriously though, im sorry for your loss, lol.

I only really watch Baseball, though.  Bad year for the Sox and the Cubs, in fact, this year, if you combined their losses, it was their worst year ever.  Anyway, Sox in 15!

So glad there is a Chicagoland forum!  I have only been on brickpicker for a few months and thought it was a bit weird there were not sighting threads for each state/country.  I have been a member of a transformers board board(tfw2005) for 13 years and their Illinois sighting thread is my main post area.  We have meet ups special trades, drink nights etc...

Hope we can do something like this also.

I am in the wrigleyville area and work in River North so always hitting a bunch of stores.  The Lego store downtown has all the newest superheroes & Star Wars sets.  Grabbed a Joker Steamroller today.

I don't know how many of you are interested in Craigslist buys or loose bulk pieces, but here's a pretty darn good deal... $10 for 2 bins of LEGO's. I'm just not the biggest fan of going to stranger's houses. But hey... http://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/tad/4391150113.html

Looks kinda dirty and played with by a 'baby'.  If I saw a few mini's in there, I might bite, but one picture doesn't entice me.  Thanks for posting it, though.  I am not a fan of CL at all.  I am waiting for garage sale season to kick back in soon.

Hi Chicago BPers! Have you seen any Robie Houses or John Hancock Centres on B&****** shelves or lego stores lately in Chicago? Understand these are retired but sometimes they still sit on the shelves for a while more.

Am thinking of visiting Chicago next week and would be touring RH and JHCs so would like to purchase one of each for momento. Appreciate any advice. Thanks!

I can tell you the one in Schaumburg does not, if that is of any help at all

Thanks both! Info and link has been most helpful. :) Didn't know there was such a function on B&******.com.

Think I'm better off getting one of these sets off ebay...

Going to Brick World this year first time missed it last year. Just doing visitor days because of work.
