I find the distribution of these interesting. Some places like your area have many, while others do not. They have been non-existent in stores around me for quite some time.

If you have a Harbor Freight nearby, pick them up in-store and use the 20% off any item coupon that’s in practically every local ad mailer.

I use something similar that I pick up from MIchael's. https://www.michaels.com/darice-17-compartment-bead-organizer/10091119.html   They are regularly on sale for $2 in store, and "50% off one item" coupons are common if you sign up for their email ads.  The height is just right for a minifig, and you can store up to 3-4 in each compartment if you want.

These are non existent in my area. The only time I was able to get these CMF's was when I was in LA visiting my friends and family and that was in May. 

It's strange to see the regional differences. I saw probably 5-6 boxes of these at local Wal-Marts this weekend. I would have bought a box but they were open with a few packs missing (and I didn't want to pay sales tax)

These consistently sell out over here too. Every time a new box gets put on the shelves it is gone/empty in a few days. Last box I saw was two weeks ago, so it's looking good.

Secret squirrel, for sure.

I don't think regular every day people will see these and buy more than a handful. If I were a parent, I'd grab a couple to shut the kids up, then go home, get online and buy the ones I want. I wouldn't try to keep buying blind bags hoping I get what I want/need.

Yeah distribution sucks. 50th state has been tapped out of its limited stock months ago. For majority of us this series is all but done. Don't care what Lego employees say about the fall. There will be bigger and better Legos to put out for the holiday season.
