DC Super Hero Girls - general discussion

An article just posted up on The Brick Fan mentions a new press release from Warner Brothers announcing the upcoming line of DC Super Hero Girls which will include digital content of video games and animation to toys include yours truly of LEGO. This new series will primarily focus on all the female characters in the DC universe but all taking place during their formative years over the more established adults we are accustomed with.

Beginning in Fall 2015, DC Entertainment, Warner Bros. Animation, Warner Bros. Consumer Products and Mattel join forces to launch DC Super Hero Girls, an exciting new universe of Super Heroic storytelling that helps build character and confidence, and empowers girls to discover their true potential. Featuring DC Comics’ most powerful and diverse line-up of female characters as relatable teens, DC Super Hero Girls will play out across multiple entertainment content platforms and product categories to create an immersive world.

Developed for girls aged 6-12, DC Super Hero Girls centers on the female Super Heroes and Super-Villains of the DC Comics universe during their formative years—prior to discovering their full super power potential. Featuring a completely new artistic style and aesthetic, DC Comics’ icons such as Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Batgirl, Harley Quinn, Bumble Bee, Poison Ivy, Katana and many more make their unprecedented teenaged introduction. Each character has her own storyline that explores what teen life is like as a Super Hero, including discovering her unique abilities, nurturing her remarkable powers and mastering the fundamentals of being a hero.

While this does seem like a good way of bringing focus around all the girls of super forward into the spotlight, I would believe any LEGO set designed for this new line will ultimately and simply be considered "Super Friends" as in the characters being minidolls instead of minifigures only with a DC motif.

@randrace do you really want the company?

I only have three and am the only US seller on EBay. I can't do this alone. [emoji6]

I considered joining you but noticed two listings - a nice reseller scum price (which I assumed was you) and a price just about RRP. I didn't want to go deep and decided to just leave it to you.

As 3 of these sets are already reduced at SAH by 20%, I think these will be a 12 month run, at most.

With super hero high school doing the oos dance that's the whole DC Super Hero Girls line retired in less than a year.

Due to the heavy discounts and huge availability, I think this theme is a dead duck. It's not for me ;-)

100% agree...

It's another failed theme that can go into the annals of the flopped themes of LEGO. :P

I wonder if they will even bother to release the 3 2018 sets or just cancel it like Agents.

Sorry thread derailment again....

You want to buy some cough medicine.

O picked up a couple of high schools at £32 a while back so I'll be happy to clear those at rrp. Luckily the current sellers aren't going below that.

I think there'll be some demand from those who bought into the series and want the rest. It just depends on how many flippers gambled on these too.

I’d be surprised to see Lego pull a licsenced theme so quickly. I imagine DC will be pushing the theme as long as the show stays on air and that might be the reason for it to stay.

I actually really like the color scheme and look of the eclipso set. I rolled the dice at nearly 60% off on that one and got 10. If it sells out fairly quickly and doesn't linger at tru it will do fine.

I regret not picking any up at 60% off. I like the look of the set, and it’s got an unmasked Flash in minidoll form to boot.

18 months seems to be the minimum, even for slam dunk turds like Angry Birds. I guess they will pull the last 3 sets in the summer.

The current rumour is that this theme is being dumped in favour of a Powerpuff Girls theme

Bad performer to a worse performer, good move.

Unfortunately, DC is to blame for mishandling the franchise. They rebooted it twice I think?

The clothing line is good - I see kids at school wearing it. But I see very little in the way of cartoons or comics. They also announced it about a year before they had anything ready to go.

They just didn’t do a great job promoting it, which is a bummer.

Obviously it's a very small sample, but one of my area B&N's had 4 of these sitting on the shelf tagged properly with the 50% off sticker, and not one of them has moved since the sale started.

My local Trgt had several sets for 50% off today. 41232 and 41231, both were previously marked down at 25%.
