  • Hanging is by far the best way to display it.  It has a hollow core, so we used a small piece of wood painted black with an eye bolt and picture hanging wire.  That way its supported from the bottom.

  • I think this pretty much sums it up. A five year old boy (my son) watching Star Wars for the first time ever. The Death Star is... fascinating.  When it is gone (whenever, if ever, that finally happe

Where are we getting the $400 MF from? Maybe it will just be $250 with some new tweaks and minifigs.

It's just a guess based on the price of the Death star.

Well, they're not even trying to disguise the dates.

According to wikipedia Mexico uses a DMY format. That death star is from THE FUTURE!

Gimme a minute to correct the wiki page...

Well, feel free to read it that way if you'd like, but here it is.

It's quite impressive that they're STILL cranking out Death Stars as of a month ago whereas other sets in store have production dates from early 2013.

The demand for this set is UNREAL considering its price point.

I can only imagine what will happen when you can't click buy it now on amazon for 399.99

There was at least one period this year - spring/summer? - when it was OOS at LEGO Shop at Home and a few other retailers, and prices went up a little.  Anyone remember that?... what was the going rate then?   ...or am I remembering things that didn't happen (again)?

Yes in fact its documented in this very thread around July.

It was out of stock at all major retailers, but Lego.com had it backordered with late July shipping, limit 5. They did fulfill those, and they've returned at several retailers since then.

Target.com even upped the price to $560.99 (even though it was out of stock).

That shows us that Target raising the price doesn't ALWAYS mean the set is about to retire.

The brickshow brothers said this won't retire until 2016. This was maybe 4-5 months ago and that's what I'm going with.

Amazon said there are only 2 left. So I bought both of them, but it still says 2 left.

Searched it, and first option now comes up at $499 with 7 in stock so...

The only places that have Death Star in stock at regular price are Target and Lego Shop at Home.  Amazon, TRU, and Wal Mart are out.  We'll see if that means anything.

Curious -- does that 11/18/2014 date correspond to what is on the seals or is that just a shipping date from Lego?

One at Hamleys (LHR T5) 5 had seal code 46S4.  Box not good as probably picked up and dropped several times.  Also 20% above RRP - duty free, my arse!
