  • Hanging is by far the best way to display it.  It has a hollow core, so we used a small piece of wood painted black with an eye bolt and picture hanging wire.  That way its supported from the bottom.

  • I think this pretty much sums it up. A five year old boy (my son) watching Star Wars for the first time ever. The Death Star is... fascinating.  When it is gone (whenever, if ever, that finally happe

Is this a real thing? I mean seriously I will freakin buy it right now.

Affiliate links baby.

Ditto that.  And if it isn't a real thing one of us needs to start production on it immediately!

Yeah, I saw this on RebelScum originally. Didn't someone make it?

Where's GhostDad? We need this authenticated to see if it's legit :)

I searched around the internet and looks like it was photoshopped but someone was talking about building them. never saw it go anywhere though.

I would so drop 200$ on it. Someone kickstart that ****.

LEGO is trying to be funny. Check the "What's new" tab in Europe LEGO Shop at Home.

Nevertheless I think this is the result of a fault in their algorithm, identifying sets coming back to stock as "new". Still funny though.

So is Lego LEGO Shop at Home the only place to get these msrp?

Pretty much, right now.  Amazon hasn't had them in some time.  They occasionally pop to available with toys r us ship to home but very rarely and they only last a minute or two.  Personally I plan on waiting until October for double VIPs to order another.  There is much debate how long it will last as available so don't blame me if it isn't available then heh.  My money is on it will be though.

I am not so much worried about double vip since i plan to use all my current vip points on this. I can order other things in oct for double vip. I am thinking I should get one of these on backorder. might as well get the space man out of it.

I got a DS from TRU today with code 33R4 for those who are interested. Lego still crankin em out

TRU has them from time to time.

Will call on the board when I get alerts.

I remember back before SSD was done there were some debate on whether SSD or DS will be the better investment. Now that we have some idea on what SSD has achieved and will achieve in the future, I wonder about people's thoughts on whether DS can do better, worse or similar if it retires by the year end, especially from die hard SW fans?

Anybody still don't have any DS you will be sorry this set will be another $1000 set and up, I am sure most will wait to the last minute as what they been doing on the SSD,HH,GE,TH. So if you have the money get one now and then, with 3 Star War Movies coming out the set will big money.   Ed

I believe it can be a big money maker. I have a used one and that will have to do. Too big and too much money for me.

If you have the means, go get it.

Assuming it actually retires within the next three years, it will provide a nice return.... Someday. Otherwise, it becomes a $400 money pit.

If someone has a DS opened, I was hoping a pic could be posted of the loose pieces or preferably in bags. I'm looking at picking up a used one tomorrow and just want a visual as to how many pieces there are.

MOC+AT-AT+Small+Pieces+(WM).jpgYeah, definitely 3,796 pieces, 7 missing.  Yeah.

Nice! Thanks. Got a side shot by chance? Your pic file description says moc+AT-AT though.

Yeah, sorry.  Not really DS pieces, I just used the first picture I could find of a mess of SW looking lego pieces.

I honestly can't see the appeal in this boring, grey, circular "dolls house" for little boys. I believe SSD and R2-D2 will far outperform this monstrosity.  Sorry but, I have to disagree with the consensus on its investment potential.  There are other hyped sets that many don't like, this is my prime example.  Ohh..... the Ewok Village is another one that I'll avoid as those "dwarves in teddy bear outfits" ruined what could've been a fantastic movie.  If I'm proved wrong, I have a lot of SSD and R2-D2 to wallow in.

Well, that's exactly what this is going to be. I'm picking up a used one pretty much to be used as a boys dollhouse. I have a little guy who just turned 2 and this will be one of the few big sets I'll let him play with!
