Any idea when the Death Star will be discontinued? It's been around about 4 years...way past normal set lifespans in stores. Thoughts?

Do you think people are panic buying Death Stars or LEGO just has really low inventory?  I wonder how many DS's their website sells per day.

I think TRU, at least online, is also out of DS (ship-to-store button is green, but it works only if the store has local availability it seems)

Sellers on amazon should be getting a hint by now... Except they probably got DS on some crazy sales back in the heydays of discounts on exclusives, so that are in the double money already...

Definitely not, however the fact it is out of stock at every major us retailer should at least get our attention.

DS might still have some room. Though GE went from 30 days to sold out pretty sudden. I wonder if there is still a run to fill GE backorders, or they will just reallocate European stock. If so, similar could happen for DS. And aslong as Europe has SSD, GE and DS, prices in US could grow only so far

"Sold out" would be more important than OOS.

It has to retire sometime, why not now? It's only been 6 years. Then again it might not retire. The SSD won't retire and the GE won't retire and LEGO will have a nice surprise for resellers.

I have no DS but after 6 SSD last week and 8 Tower Bridges on Tuesday I am wiped out for a while. All these sets are vanishing within days of each other??? At least I am loaded up on GE. 

 

The fact that lego will still let me order five makes me think it will be back for at least one more run. SSD was limit 2 then limit one on the last batch.
