Any idea when the Death Star will be discontinued? It's been around about 4 years...way past normal set lifespans in stores. Thoughts?

  • Hanging is by far the best way to display it.  It has a hollow core, so we used a small piece of wood painted black with an eye bolt and picture hanging wire.  That way its supported from the bottom.

  • I think this pretty much sums it up. A five year old boy (my son) watching Star Wars for the first time ever. The Death Star is... fascinating.  When it is gone (whenever, if ever, that finally happe

That looks like a big laser cannon...should look great in a Lego set!

Cool poster, AND a new trailer as well! Nice.

They have tried so hard (too hard) to hit every note from the OT - It seems as if most every bit of footage has been a nod to some nostalgic moment that we've already seen in SW.

I certainly can understand why, but I just hope that they spent half as much time coming up with an original story, instead of just trying to check off all the boxes.

Maybe the ghost of Jek Porkins is inside BB8´s memory card....

Expect a blip in ebay sales over the next week. Might be time to get shot of some DS´s if they are in the trailer and still TOOS.

What if they have hidden things extremely well and the new set in December is actually the new Death Star ?

That might mix things up a bit

Sell, sell, sell!

good point since there have been rumors of a new "updated" Death Star

Sell, sell, sell!

If that is the "new" Death Star, why would you want to sell the current one?

Also, the Rebel Alliance is supposed to have some sort of "super weapon."  Maybe a "Live Star"?

The fact that there is a new "Death Star" in the new movie makes a remake of the old one seem very unlikely.

What a head fake if the ucs Hoth base is not the new ucs and a ucs at at is not it either

That would be a major win for them if they can pull it off as a true surprise

if I wanted to stir it up I would say how is 7965 doing compared to the new one but I don't want to so I won't say that

Please don´t. I am completely confused as it is.!

Exactly...and would probably end the current production run of the 10188.

I agree and the Death Star is waaaay more expensive and takes up Alotta shelf space plus I frankly don't think people care enough about It to where they have to own every version of it, if the newer looking one is better then people will obviously gravitate towards it since it's the newest greatest thing just like the newest millennium falcon

So this is good news in the way that the resprayed X wing has been good news for 9493????

This wouldn't be the same thing. The Falcon is still pretty much just the same Falcon (except for the dish).

With the 10188, the minifigs (lots of them) and the OT scenes are what makes it so unique - those would not be the same at all in a new one (regardless of how they styled the set).

shame on you trying to bring logic in this discussion :)

Possibly, but which old one?

I can see where your coming from but the things so large and expensive, It's kind of a total shot in the dark to guess how the old one will do if/ when the new one comes out

Yep those are so iconic it makes more sense for a refresh a la WTS to keep the cash cow alive MOOOO!!! ;)

Plus, who says they cannot have a UCS new DS side by side with a refreshed 10188 ????

Hey, anybody see a new 10188 box?

I know i could also post this in the what i heard… thread, but it also fits in here. I called the lego customer service a few times in the past weeks… (including today)...

they told me it's on its last run…. like the 1000 times in the past years :)
