Any idea when the Death Star will be discontinued? It's been around about 4 years...way past normal set lifespans in stores. Thoughts?

I'm going to keep a couple. I really don't want to return the 4 I have (others got cancelled) since they're all shipped pristine in the original Lego shipping box too. 

 

Nobody should be returning there Death Star, take my word within a year after it retires it will be at least $1000.     Ed

Ed, Let them do whatever they want.  10188 isn't a 2-6 week flip.  Could be a 6-12 month hold if a newer version comes out though (for a nice profit as we saw what the panic "pop" will look like- jumped to over $500 in 3 days).  Veteran members and investors already gave solid advice,  Patience is a virtue and learned the hard way (usually after kids, with age or hands-on experience ).

But when will it retire? I wouldn't be surprised if I retire before the Death Star.

Perfect, except that after #5, you're supposed to loop back to #2 a few times before moving on to #6. It's sort of like Chutes & Ladders.

Ain't that the truth. I've long since learned to "control what I can control" and leave the rest. I might not have as much capital, storage space, or time to hunt for bargains as some on here, but I can be patient. 

That last line? That's the real value of things like youth sports. I"m glad my sons have learned how to lose--some seasons quite a lot  --but it will pay them well in the future.

New member here from way up north in (remote but beautiful) Yukon, Canada.  :-)

Walmart Canada just got some in stock online; I snagged one quickly and will pick up down south while visiting family.  Shipping up north with Walmart prohibitively expensive.

I have one Death Star which I've always wanted to build. Glad I didn't buy another now!

Target shipped me one without a shopping box. Definitely a returned item. I'll have to weigh this and inspect it carefully. I have a couple SSDs in this condition that I don't regret holding onto.

Just got mine from Shop. Code is 29R4 I think. The R looks like a H. The other one is smudged off almost completely. I was ship in a half opened Lego shipper inside a bigger box.
