76031 - The Hulk Buster Smash

So what does everyone think of this item.  Will it be a big item to stock up for Christmas given it's popularity or does everyone think it's going to flop and have too much supply by that time?

It's all about what Lego does with supply. It seems it's going the route Elsa's Castle has been taking so far. It's a good set to part out too so far especially at the target sale price. Super hero sets tend to die down but Lego has had some major troubles keeping lots of items in stock.

I think it's the best investment of this wave of superhero sets...although you've got plenty of time to stockpile these.

Great set though and I could see it jumping to $50-$60 fairly quick.  Some decent profit down the road (2+ years) here if purchased at the right price.

Yeah, since this set came out, I feel like I haven't seen Hulk selling for $20 at all...much closer to $10, but that's amazon/bricklink I am seeing.

It's a sure winner this bad boy and with such a low RRP it's just golden, as soon as it hits around 40/50% off just buy all you can see everywhere!

I've had a hard time not buying a few at Target this week with the 20% off they have right now.

I think this is the new investor in me though...as I just started investing a few months ago and have a hard time seeing flips/hold for Christmas and such.

I wish I had bought about 50 when they were $19.43 through Amazon third party last year. Definite winner.

Yeah...that's why it is so hard for me to resist Target as it's the first time for me at least that I have seen this set on sale.

So, with that, do you all think the $23.99 plus Redcard make this worthwhile or would you all wait for a more drastic 50% before you touched it?

Like exciter said grab a few. If the plan is for Christmas flipping then I'd be iffy about loading up.

I think there will be plenty of stock and I honestly am not touching this one for investment of flipping any time soon.  LEGO has shown that they will keep movie sets around long after the movie has run it's course (IM3, MOS, Avengers, etc.).  By the time this one retires in 2+ years there will be a new Avengers movie on the horizon.  It won't have any time to grow before the next Super Heroes wave is out and caps its value.

Hulkbuster is pretty iconic. I'd be surprised if the Infinity War sets capped its value. I'm not buying any right now, but I think long term it would do pretty well.

Guess I'll wait a bit then and was hoping for Christmas time flipping with them.

If your goal is to accumulate several hundred copies of the set, 20% plus Red Card or discounted Gift card is a great time to start.

If you want a just a few, you've got at least 1.5 years to get serious.

If you want one to open and enjoy, YEAH go get it now.

I think your best bet is to wait until there are some good sales in September/October if you want to sell these at Christmas.  A word of caution though, many sets are well stocked throughout the Christmas shopping season so if this one is widely available you won't be making any money on it.

You can part it out for $40+ now, hulkbuster sells for $20+ just by himself. 3 other minifigs and a hulk, what's not to like

I don't think you'll ever see this set at over 30% off. TRU has it over MSRP and I don't think they'll sit on the shelf long enough for Target or Walmart to knock more than 30% off.

When I read this my brain sees "Don't invest in any movie-related Lego sets".

Surely that can't be right?
