March 9, 201510 yr Has anyone else noticed that the brick fan might have been hacked? I tried to go to the website and it directed me to a link titled trolololololol.Com or whatever. Is it just me?
March 9, 201510 yr Isn't that Allen Tran's site? If so that sucks!! He is a super busy guy so he isn't on BP much, but he is a good member here.
March 9, 201510 yr I'm not much of a computer guy but can someone explain the high you get from this? Like do they plaster the site with ads or just taking over control of something you should not have control over? I had a guy come into the bar once that said his job was a hacker. He use to have a government job but said that hacking paid way better so he quit his normal job. Who hires a hacker?

People hire legitimate hackers to test their online security measures. Edited March 9, 201510 yr by Darth_Raichu
March 9, 201510 yr If someone tells you they are a hacker, they probably aren't. Most real hackers are committing multiple felonies each time they touch their computer. Legit hackers who you would employ usually label themselves as security consultants, not hackers

Like do they plaster the site with ads or just taking over control of something you should not have control over?A lot of this I am still trying to figure out the whole mental desire from hacking other than it being a challenge of mind or because they can. I can understand why someone would hack for information or money but what point is say creating a virus that obliterates a complete stranger's computer? I recall not long ago (maybe almost two years now) the company servers that Brickipedia used were hacked whatever for is anyone's guess. Typically they will hold your site/data for ransom.I remember a near pandemic of this when Bitcoin was getting really high in worth. People were finding their entire computer 'locked' until sending a certain amount of cash or a couple Bitcoins to a certain web address. It is horrible but any ransom scenario never pans out and unfortunately you might as well forget about getting that locked personal data or whatever else was stolen returned if anything for the fact that there is nothing holding them to this 'agreement' of forced terms. Usually what happens is you get strung along for even more money.
