My 8 yrs old nephew built these two over the weekend (nexo knights and WALL-E):

No help from my side on WALL-E except for one or two cases, he's a better builder than me! :D

Palace Cinema...with some personal modifications. I have always admired the aesthetic style of this theatre and was happy to finally have a used one cross my path to build. The build was overall an enjoyable experience. The interior is not the most detailed of the modulars, but the exterior makes up for it in spades. Book 3 was very enjoyable to see how the roof, marque, and most impressively, the Palace sign come together. I enjoyed adding my little touches although I funged up the Shawshank poster. It adds charm though! I still may create stadium-style seating in the theatre, but for now I have a bank to build!

Yesterday I began building again. I started off small with some CMF series 15 followed by 75900 Mummy Museum Mystery.

In the meantime some more sets followed:

  • 41078 Skyra's Mysterious Sky Castle
  • 75904 Mystery Mansion
  • 41119 Cupcake Cafe
  • 41101 Heartlake Grand Hotel (which I haven't finished building yet)

All builds were enjoyable so far. Some stickers I left off as they would limit a later re-use too much. Especially all those run-down and broken window effects from 75904 probably wouldn't fit into any of my future projects. And even in a toned down 75904 the janitor hired by Skyra doesn't look too happy with the prospect of cleaning up that place.

41078 is surprisingly small. The Mystery Mansion at the same RRP is a lot more impressive in size. The construction of the portal between Elvendale and the world of Emily Jones is cool nonetheless.

As I still had a Council of Elrond in the cupboard I added it to 41078 for a fun effect. :)

Wanted to build this beautiful model designed by Nico71 for a long time.  The picture doesn't do it justice.

Fabulous! His designs are great.

75021 (latest republic gunship). Boy that thing is impressive!  One of those sets that until I saw it in the flesh I didnt realise how good it was.
Not a fan of the prequels but some of the sets from those films are epic. I can see this one continued to be rehashed every few years so probably wont hit the stratosphere and I think because its prequels some will write it off but more fool them.

Just a shame it doesnt fit into my display case.  Jokes on me as next on the list is 10195.

I feel like we might see less prequel stuff going forward. In a few years, we'll probably see a larger upswing in the better PT sets.

I'm watching Clone Wars series for the first time and I want a gunship so badly. I agree we might see less and less sets from this series so I don't know if I should wait for a remake or buy one from a reseller. Thoughts?

Maybe need to move this to a new thread but I bought a used one and so glad i did.  75021 is a great build - was looking out for the previous version (like the idea of it fully closing and personally think the mini-figure selection is better). IMO if you want one of these get it now. It actually makes sense that the larger SW sets will be from the new films coming up.  Unless one shows up in rebels that is.

Built 42008 Service Truck today.... nice build, great model. Pneumatics are a little wonky and the instructions have an error regarding the motor wire (the connector is separate from the wire in the critical instructions), but figured it out in the end.

I think you should definitely buy one.   And the fact I'm selling three of them has nothing to do with that...

You have convinced me (and thanks for warning about the doors not closing, I'll do some modifications)

Ahah I don't buy from the states due to shipping and fees, otherwise I'd jump at the opportunity.

I didn't like the jerky steering so decided to use a Train remote instead which worked reasonably well; however, I couldn't control multiple functions at once.  I don't normally build unique items, but I couldn't find any solution online so I decided to try and build something that would allow me FWD and REV motion while being able to steer simultaneously on the train remote.  End result, is what you see.  The one drawback is that I don't get full speed in FWD or REV because the gear ratio doesn't spin enough in the 90 DEG motion of the steering column, but it is a minor drawback.  You can tilt the steering column slightly downwards allowing full FWD motion and using the red reset button allows full motion as well.  I did try using the larger bevel gear but the unit just became too big and cumbersome.

Anyways.....it is a great playability set.  Will go well with the Ultimate 8043.

I just sold another today.  I'm going to have to raise my price.  I listed it and my last Silver Centurion at prices I didn't think people would pay and sold them both today.

Started building the 21108 Ghostbusters Ecto-1 last night. It was already late so I only finished the 4 minifigs with their proton-packs and display stand. Will build the car another day. :)

I have got the latest LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3! Really excited to build those cool robots. The box is really as cool as I thought, will post pics soon :))

Be sure to download the EV3 smartphone app... For the already designed robots, you can't beat controlling them via your phone and bluetooth rather than the silly little remote included!

Sure buddy, You know I have had the RCX, and the NXTs as well. Took part in FLL,WRO etc Its all fun, Thats the real lego.

Never played with the tetrix, but now I'll have to look into it. :)

A friend's daughter took a junior high robotics class in school last year and I helped her build the robot (it was a "push your opponent out of the circle" type robot). Then I helped her build some powered cars for a science project out of LEGO (we measured the power output of different light sources via the LEGO solar panel). Of course that meant I had to get the EV3 to continue but I haven't had much time (yet) to do anything besides play with the predesigned robots.

For an upcoming set review I built the 75060 Slave I. Many people saying that this set is huge, but it's hard to imagine anyway so I thought I'd share this picture:

As you can see, Lincoln Memorial easily slides underneath Slave I if put on its stand. The train and old town truck are insects compared to the minifigure-scale Star Wars ship.

I hope to finalize the blog soon. Bit of research to be done first...

It's about high time for me to pick up one of these for build. I have heard the stickers are a major pain. What was your experience?
