What LEGO set did you build today?

Featured Replies

For an upcoming blog about vintage Lego collecting and investing I built this from a box backside picture:

Anyone knows or wants to guess what (very commonly seen) set this is? Shoot :)

edit: cheated thank you bricklink:devil:

Well spotted, especially given the fact that only the bottom side of the box had a picture of this vehicle and it wasn't featured in the instructions.

red pump only came in two sets, tires matched only one set.

The push pump was only in this set and in the excavator set 8851 (also a nice one, recently built it again... childhood memories...) but the regular pump is even rarer: it's the only one in this color in any set (ref.: Bricklink).

Or well... in fact it isn't rare at all of course, as 8040 was the Pet Shop of its time.

Ok to keep this on topic I'll post another 8040 model I built for the blog (I keep telling myself "it's for the blog so I SHOULD play with utilize my Lego"):

8040 was my first Technic set!

As a kid I never had it unfortunately. Until now I built 7 out of 11 models, some I already built once before a couple of years ago, and I must say that this set really is a treat. I can't even begin to describe how much fun it is and how many hours of play one can get from this set even by following instructions and trying to redo pictured models. Everything was very cleverly designed.

I'll show vids of all the models in action.

To keep this on topic I'll show one more model.

I built the 10241 Maersk EEE last night. Beautiful and imposing thing; I feel my instincts were correct on this one. Anyway, this example had a damaged box with a bag that ripped open so bought it at less than the going resale price. Having to check everything was in there was an excellent excuse to build it. Haven't applied the stickers, though; I may disassemble and sell it later. Will post some photos later.

7785 Arkham Asylum - nice set, but it's no 7783 Batcave...

Totally agree. It's no 7783 Batcave. I did like it nearly as much as the newer AA.  The playability is nice for 7785 considering the age. I also love the overall look of 7785 (if The Scarecrow took over AA).

My first Ninjago set. Wu Dragon. Got it for $20 at Walmart this week. I've wanted it since I first saw it, I really like all the different pieces they used especially on the dragons head. Unikitty tails and croissants. The colors look cool and the minifigs are neat. I got a Morro dragon for $35 too, so I'm looking forward to that.

Ah, my long lost friend! Good to see one again. I really liked the picture windows and the curtains in this set. Love the grocery store and room for some creativity on  the other floors

Did you buy original set or bricklinked it? Just wondering how much is it to buy all the pieces on BL.
