Finally got round to sourcing all of the bricks required to build this. Substituted some of the non black bricks with black. Quite happy with the end result.

In celebration of the return of The Clone Wars, decided to build 8037 Anakin’s Y-Wing from 2009. Great set and a solid build, my only gripe is that the turret does spin...

That Naboo fighter sure got a lot of playtime from me as a kid...

Yeah that one actually is my childhood set, ironically enough, the pieces are still in great shape.... but I was one of those odd kids who didn't play rough with their toys or let anyone else touch them lol

We were fortunate enough to pick up many of the SDCC LEGO exclusives this year, and my boys put together a short video reviewing the Exclusive Ant Man set.  I was fortunate enough to get approval to post the video here, so here it is.  Apologies in advance for poor editing, etc.

The interior details look awesome.

And I didn't realize it came with large cows. :)

Goodness. How big is the sticker book on this one? Still looks cool. Might have convinced me to buy sooner. We'll all have to buy a new table or very large shelf to display it on.

End of book 3. What idiot thought it was remotely ok to put the room of requiremnts in the dungeon ?!?

4 sheets , about 70 stickers . I’ll post my thoughts on it once I’m done building

All set, the end result was freaking awesome. Hands down the best and most enjoyable set that I have ever built.  The final piece is pretty sturdy and more importantly breathtaking . A must for any adult builder who is into the HP franchise .

My 2 cents on some missed opportunities/cons from a die hard HP nerd POV .

  • Stickers : about 70 - 75 of them. They do help keep the piece count down ( otherwise building some scenes would add a lot of elements ) and they do hit the mark portraying their respective scenes , however printed bricks would have been a better idea and added more elegance to the set
  • Is this a Hogwarts Set or a HP Hogwarts set ? Meaning it stays loyal to HP's POV of the castle . Would have rather had the other 3 common rooms added along with the kitchen ( threw in an elf of two )  rather than have many scenes from the first movie.
  • Speaking of first movie , should have added Fluffy and done away the dragon since again it is heavy one the first movie scenes.
  • Room of requirements : in the dungeon? gmab
  • Should have had Hagrid, no excuse for that one not to be included.
  • Bonus micro figs : Slughorn, Lockhart, and Mad Eye.
