Two of our more popular threads are "What LEGO set(s) did you buy today?" and "What LEGO set(s) did you sell today?" These threads are filled with great information. But we all know LEGO bricks are about "building" LEGO sets and models, so why shouldn't we talk about it on this site as well? I mean, many LEGO sets that are fantastic builds are also investment winners, so why shouldn't people share some of their experiences of build and set quality that might affect LEGO set values, either positively or negatively? Let us know what you built today and your overall thoughts on the set. Don't forget to leave more in depth reviews in our LEGO SET REVIEWS section...

It all started with one of our fish having babies. We separated them in a breeding tank for a couple of days. But that was not enough....my wife and sons teamed up on me and begged for a bigger tank. Next thing I knew...we had decided to not only get a bigger tank, but also decided exactly how we wanted to decorate it. We love our Lego displays, and this was just another creative way to add to the collection. What the hell...right?!!

Great build! Very fragile! Great display piece!

Nice mech. Like the car but less than I thought before building. Great builds though for a set that retails at $29.99

Without the play feature (wheels flipping to enter flying mode) I think the car would have looked nicer. Still a nice build though. Fun to build and great play feature for kids.

New LEGO Build Your Own Adventure book, DC Comics Super Heroes. It includes Green Lantern John Stewart! And a nice little mini jet.

I just wish they'd offer up instructions for the builds inside. There's a few good builds that I'll have to figure out.

I took a chance on eBay yesterday and bought a used, incomplete, Black Pearl #4184.  Pictures are below.  I figure I should be able to fill in the 4 missing sails, complete the minis (and missing two), the manuals and buy any missing pieces I don't have in storage for around $125 ish?  Easier for me to do something like this than drop about $250 up front (wife is preggers and would kill me I think) hah!  Any thoughts?

For those that have built these before, do you notice any expensive missing parts (outside of sails being about $25 for the four and $75 ish to complete the minis)?

Those missing mini fig parts are gonna set you back a bit, if you can find them...The shark head for Maccus only has 4 available.

Yeah, the head is about $7 cheaper than a whole figure, so I estimated $20 for replacing him, $45 for Davy replacement, $10 for Jack and Joshamee, $25 for the missing sails, $20 for manuals and about $15 for misc parts.

I finally finished up UCS Artoo after a week of 1-2 bags per night. I really enjoyed the build and love the final result. 

Dragon from Ninjago Dragon Forge. Nicer than I expected. Some less common blue (not sure which blue is used) parts and several of the shield shaped tiles (in black).  Edit* the blue I mentioned is Dark Azure.

Popped open a damaged box Fear Harvestor! Not a bad build!

 

 

Built the Friends Hot Dog Truck with my daughter the other day.  

Also, decided to move my 10030 ISD to another location for display and had to apply some CPR as it was trying to fall apart and die on me.  The internal structure of that thing needs some serious Technic upgrades.  Mine does not sag but the two halves need more holding them together.

My son just really started to get into Minecraft, so we built our first Minecraft set.  I like the flexibility and creative options.  I can see why kids love the game and the sets.

 

Just built a 60115 Rally car with my 4 year old - picked it up for €5 from a local seller, brand new but box was a bit shabby

1 of 5 had a beat up box so cracked it open,  Scuttler for the win!  Fun build, awesome minis and great final product!

We haven't seen Max in a good while. He's looking great.
