What LEGO set did you build today?

Two of our more popular threads are "What LEGO set(s) did you buy today?" and "What LEGO set(s) did you sell today?" These threads are filled with great information. But we all know LEGO bricks are about "building" LEGO sets and models, so why shouldn't we talk about it on this site as well? I mean, many LEGO sets that are fantastic builds are also investment winners, so why shouldn't people share some of their experiences of build and set quality that might affect LEGO set values, either positively or negatively? Let us know what you built today and your overall thoughts on the set. Don't forget to leave more in depth reviews in our LEGO SET REVIEWS section...

Poe's X-Wing. It's been a long while since I built a non-UCS Star Wars ship and I got to say it is actually better than I expected. Resistance X-Wing is next!

They're very similar builds. There's a few differences, the cockpit has a slight difference and the aft is built to have a removable hyperdrive unit, but for the most part the same. A few part choices are different. It was actually slightly disappointing to come back and build the Resistance X-Wing set when I remembered the completely undisguised spring missile shooters after having built so many in the past year with well disguised and implemented shooters.

I kind of expected a very similar build, I just wanted to make sure I added both of those to my collection as I am trying to expand into the smaller "scene" based sets to complement the UCS (and make sure I get the most important minifigs as well)

7778 Mid-sized Millennium Falcon

I plan on hanging that in my son's room.

This transporter is a nice set. But it can be easily captured by rebels, as happened in my case.

You recovered all the pieces then?

Yep. I have a decent box of stuff that is in various stages of Bricklinking. The parts I needed were in that box.

The Falcon was in a different box. I had forgotten I had put the missing parts in that Bricklink box.

Assembly Square. Work in progress, completed bags 1-3, and spent 10 minutes trying to figure out where I missed the small 1x1 square grey piece!!

75153 AT-ST - It's much taller than I expected. I really like this one, a great little set that displays well.

I really like this one as well. The only annoying thing is that because of the missing movable joints you can't really put it in a full action position.

Right next to Ewok Village. Been meaning to do the same (although with Battle of Endor set), just refuse to pay secondary market prices lol.

I still have a Battle of Endor sealed.  Just can't bring myself to break those seals.

I still have some AT-ATs too and a few Lonely Mountains, what to do, what to do...

I bought a couple smaugs (dragon only) off Bricklink a year ago in anticipation of this day ... don't crack those seals!

I built 71042 Silent Mary last weekend. Cool build, looks great displayed. I personally would have rather had a regular ship w/ a solid hull, but it's still super cool. I ended up getting this down super cheap as well. I paid RRP at the Lego store, but nocked off some $$$ after selling bits of it.

  • $29 VW Beetle Promo
  • $50 Zombie Skeleton Sharks ($25 each)
  • $20 Salazar
  • $20 Jack Sparrow
  • $20 Carina

After fees and shipping, I'm at almost a $100 with 3 minifigures left for display. Not bad!

42039 started last night and finished this morning!  With the organization of the bricks, a process that fulfills my OCD needs, this build took just over 4 hours!  Easily one of my favorite Technic builds...right up there with the 8458 Silver Champion and the 8466 4x4 Offroader.  Snagged this used on BL for a good deal.

I've currently got mine built as the b model but there are some nice c models.  Tempted by the f1 car.

Picked up a used Raptor Escape and just rebuilt it to make sure everything was there. What a crap set, god knows why this one is so popular.

Just wondering, neither of the raptors stand freely, presume they should be able to do this.
