Two of our more popular threads are "What LEGO set(s) did you buy today?" and "What LEGO set(s) did you sell today?" These threads are filled with great information. But we all know LEGO bricks are about "building" LEGO sets and models, so why shouldn't we talk about it on this site as well? I mean, many LEGO sets that are fantastic builds are also investment winners, so why shouldn't people share some of their experiences of build and set quality that might affect LEGO set values, either positively or negatively? Let us know what you built today and your overall thoughts on the set. Don't forget to leave more in depth reviews in our LEGO SET REVIEWS section...

Well, here are a few small builds from myself.

75011 Tantive IV & Planet Alderaan: Alderaan is the plant resembling Earth the most, and I can imagine using it in a museum lobby in the future.

LEGO Dimensions 71228 Ghostbusters (Ecto-1/Peter Venkman/Ghost Trap): I wanted the non-slimed version of Peter Venkman to add to the Firehouse Headquarters when I get that set at some point. Also, I was surprised that the Ecto-1 build is obviously supposed to be the full car as it doesn't look that way on the packaging with only front wheels being visible.

More of a "what did you build the past month or so", but i've enjoyed some great builds here at the end of summer / beginning of fall.  

I'm late to the Modular game, but after building the PR awhile back I caught the bug and really enjoyed the Pet Shop build. I agree with a statement someone made somewhere on the forums - everyone should have one of these. 

I missed out on the snow speeder when it was sold at retail but managed to snag a used one off of eBay for about $25 after I sold off the rest of the lot. So much nostalgia with it! I know this isn't anything new, but this was my first Hoth set - I was so close to rushing out to buy an AOH except for the obvious: no AT-AT available at non Brickpicker prices. Such a missed opportunity for LEGO...

That said, the IST brought redemption... Wow, awesome! Love it! I bought it off Amazon early this year back when I thought 17% off was a "good deal" (thanks BP community for setting me straight on that one), and even though I'd have loved it for cheaper, it was still well with the money. Lots of great thoughts on this board about the future of LEGO (and of course investing), but these three builds have reminded me of how much I love building with LEGO.

The 75828 Ecto-1 on the left was my $24 Ebay score from last week - Vehicle only, but it did include several minifig tools (blue toolbox, 2 ghostbusting apparatus) and ... surprise surprise ... Patty's hair. Sent the seller a message to see if (s)he needs this back, given how crucial this unique hairpiece is.

Biggest set I've ever built. I was not a fan of no bag numbers but I'm happy with the finished product!

I kinda dug the unnumbered bags. Make you earn it! Big Ben is on my to-do list. Does not really jump out in photos, but seeing it in the Lego Shop really sold me on the details and displayability.

Built the original outhouse today... TP and Tower Crane included.

Couple of recent builds. 

Claas Xerion was a great build apart from me missing a cog from the gearbox and having to tear it half apart again.  At £80 it was probably the best value set I've built in a while in terms of build time and enjoyment. 

New RO At-St next to its big brother. I can see a lot of these being sold as they'll be coveted by OT AFOL's aswell as kids. 

Finally I gave one of the architecture skyline sets a shot. See what i thought of them and if they'll be worth investment.

I just can't see how these will catch on. The buildings are so small to show any details. 

I love the normal architecture sets, I'm amazed how they can create detail at small scale but these skylines are simply too small, I can't see many people posting over the odds for a complete set.

Finally got around to building this. Built it over the past 3 days.  I was initially hesitant to build another technic set, and the look of the Porsche wasn't exciting for me.  Glad I ended up building it, very fun, especially the first 2 boxes with the motor and chassis.  Happy with final outcome, it was much larger than I anticipated.  Included pic of the 24 hour race car for comparison.

I do have a couple of criticisms.  The gaps/holes in some areas take away the look of the car, and lastly, the Porsche sticker logo is disproportionately small.  You can hardly see it!

Built 71251 this afternoon. I just wish they would have included another head with an alternative facial expression.

10178 Motorised AT-AT and 75074 Microfighter Snowspeeder

The AT-AT is probably my new favorite set. I know it is not as good as some previous models, however I love the Motorised function. I really hope Lego do an updated UCS Motorised AT-AT on a bigger scale, as this set was only 1137 pieces.

Happy with final outcome, it was much larger than I anticipated.

I have a sealed box at home, but after seeing the size of a built one I'm kinda hesitant. It takes up so much space and there are so many other sets that are way more display friendly than a Porsche. That's my opinion anyway.

We are in the process of building some duds.  Arkham Asylum Breakout, Tower of Orthanc and I believe it is time to crack the seals on a Haunted House.

 

The ToO has a lot of black pieces.

 

EDIT: Haunted house is not considered a dud.  Just slightly disappointed with the current trend.

Don't know why you're so disappointed, those will surely be fun to build and look great on display.

Not sure what trend you're seeing, but I don't have one and the longer I wait the more likely I am to not have one.

That price has been stagnant for an entire year. I guess not a current trend, more of an ongoing malaise.

Crack open two AAs and you can create 4 walls on your way to a great modular moc. 

Page 408, step 465, aka the point in the build where pin fatigue sets in.

The BWE would look right at home in some SPACE themed moc.

 

 

Not sure if flash on or flash off looks better. I made a little alteration to the VC with the figs. Fun Halloween build for 2 years now

Build some stuff from LEGO Dimensions today.

I started with Adventure Time level pack and Harry Potter team pack. Lord Voldemort is absent as he won't be staying in this household.

The next build was the Ghostbusters story pack. This was the first time that I encountered stickers in a Dimensions set:

What a bummer! I had hoped that they would print all those pieces but besides the minifigure only 3 pieces were printed, e.g. the small Ghostbusters sign. I don't really mind smaller stickers that are easy to apply but those big transparent stickers were a real pain. Due to dust particles and a bubble they now don't look the best upon closer inspection. Another issue is the sticker for the Ghostbusters sign which isn't opaque enough to look white on a black background.

Up next are more Ghostbuster builds. Hopefully I can finish those tomoroow.

I have actually enjoyed the build: daughters were helping every once in a while and they kept "wowing" as The Tower ("of Orthanc" since this last comment went into a new page) was growing... I did not spend much time examining details in pictures and such before getting my unit: building every room/floor was a genuine discovery and I really enjoyed all the details
