What LEGO set did you build today?

Two of our more popular threads are "What LEGO set(s) did you buy today?" and "What LEGO set(s) did you sell today?" These threads are filled with great information. But we all know LEGO bricks are about "building" LEGO sets and models, so why shouldn't we talk about it on this site as well? I mean, many LEGO sets that are fantastic builds are also investment winners, so why shouldn't people share some of their experiences of build and set quality that might affect LEGO set values, either positively or negatively? Let us know what you built today and your overall thoughts on the set. Don't forget to leave more in depth reviews in our LEGO SET REVIEWS section...

Long weekend project. Great set, despite just being a box.

Wrapped up this one today. Such a great set and perfect addition to my Pirates collection.

This is a great set! I wish I picked it up instead of Siege encampment.

I am currently building the Mattel Brick Shop NSX. In the past, I have built a few of the other Mega Cars, this one is really nice but my biggest complaint is the quality of the 4x2 red tiles, there are some really scratched parts that overall just take away form the look of the model. Overall a fun build. Not sure if I will get the 8-wide versions yet.

Not LEGO. Nobody cares.

This forum is dead.  Who cares. Get over it.

Speaking of which, we should have a discord or slack backup in case this gravy train with biscuit wheels runs off the track someday and the brothers pull the site down. There are rumors of a QFLL slack somewhere out there but discord might be better.

There are several I’d imagine.

A QFLL secret slack group???? QFLLpicker.com???  I can only imagine the misfits in a secret group of flippers...

I hope we can continue if something were to happen here.

You’re right, and this is one of the reasons why it’s dead. No mods cleaning up threads like this. Site used to be a daily must check. Now nothing. It’s a shame.

Say what? Traffic is traffic.

Overall 8/10.

Love that they include the HotWheels car and the extra parts for the "upgrade". Nice build but they do get away with having very specific custom parts like the wheel wells and front/rear glass. Nice, but not in the "spirit" of how Lego does it. The printer parts are nice. The customization requires sticker use, so it's optional.

The brick grip isn't great and it takes more force to build that Lego, albeit not as bad as old Mega. The polish on the tile bricks leaves much to be desired, it just looks sloppy and almost pre-owned. 67e2bfc0fb87d62d47e5f9bf4cbe43fd.jpg

Be the change you hope everyone else to be.

These sets are like a cross between a LEGO and a snap-together model kit. Pieces are very specialized but in the end the build does look the part to a T. I hope to see them release construction sets based on the more signature rides the brand built its reputation upon.

And I remember the clutch on ol' Mega Bloks. Many of the parts being incredibly tight while some barely hanging on. Sometimes can spot at a glance from the finish on the piece itself what was what.

BLDP Harbormaster's Office. Went together very smooth; better than most BLDP sets. Will be a nice companion to the Ideas Old Fishing Store.

Arcade Machine, another great affordable set this one was only $34 after CB and came with the Ninjago City GWP. No brick separator and a damaged sticker sheet was not the best beginning but the build is great and lots of fun with some awesome prints as well. If it wasn’t for the Gameboy this would easily be the best set under $60. I hope they do a series of these and we get a Defender set next.

Next up I was going to build the Enterprise but still have the D&D Castle set so will probably flip a coin tomorrow.

So here is a bit of a horror story for you. Before starting the D&D Castle set I finally had to finish the 42098 Car Transporter. This was an open box return with several open bags and loose pieces inside. The instructions and sticker sheet were mint so I thought let’s give it a try, this was back in September 2024. Right off the start I was missing a gear for the corvette and had to place a BL order. I was able to finish the car but then was missing a few small elements for the truck and decided to sort the entire set and inventory it, brutal.

Two more BL orders and I was ready to go! This is old school technic, no app, just look at the elements in the call out box and the picture in the instructions and figure out where things go. I hated working on this set and made a lot of mistakes twice having to do some major rebuild. I would probably say it is my least favorite build ever, even worse than sets that have tons of repetitive steps, just no joy in this set. What got me through it was that once done I would be left with an amazing functional play set that also nicely displays my technic cars.

I am glad to get my build area back and this thing will be going up for trade/sale soon if someone wants it. I’m looking for NISB Italian Riviera or Natural History Museum.

Is that really supposed to be a Corvette that's included? I always thought it looked like a Camaro or something. I have the set and like it as a display piece. I would like a list of cars that fit on it scale-wise. I don't want all the super cars out there, but more common cars like Corvettes and the like.

It’s a generic car similar to 42093
